Starts today, and the chance to see some decent racing in the midweek winter void for the couple of months leading up to Cheltenham.
Bets are thin on the ground (for me) in the early days, but there's usually a few decent punts over the period.
One that catches the eye today is Mufarrh (5.25), who was a good 2nd in the Godolphin Mile, over this c/d a couple of seasons ago, with some decent horses behind him. Been missing since and returned (sans cojones) in a small conditions race over a distance short of his best, just three weeks ago. That he's stepped up to gp2 today suggests the stable liked what they saw, and 6/1 is more than a fair price for the fitness edge he's likely to enjoy.

Couldn't have got that much more wrong; with the horse clearly not off an inch, and the race won by the owner's other entrant. :o
Onward and upward!

Balmont Mast (4.15) improved all last season, culminating in a comfortable listed win; his 3rd on Dundalk's artificial surface.
Outpaced over 5f for most of the way on Meydan's fast turf (course record time) 2 weeks ago, he'll find 6f on Tapeta much more up his street, and the 7/1 should be taken.

Cracking sprint at 5.05.
Krypton Factor's head and shoulders above these, but being trained for a Golden Shaheen repeat, and I doubt he'll be on top form today. Another good Aussie in Mental too, but he'll find the Tapeta surface a stiffer test than his normal home turf, and may struggle to last home.
Tamaathul is up in class, but ran the race of his life lto, winning a good turf sprint cosily, and ought to improve again on this surface. Still 6/1 in places, too.

Agreed, and I have said as much on the 'what are you backing' thread, Reet. My logic is pretty much the same as yours. Good luck.

I've done a very small each way trebles bet on the following just for a bit of fun

Jamr
Rerouted
Glass Office
Fulbright
Ballista
Bob Le Beau

Mushreq 3.50, couldn't get cover from his wide draw lto and consequently pulled too hard off the steady early pace. The drop back to 1m and the return to turf should see a much better performance today.
Con Artist 3.50, is no great price but finished clear of a similar field when 2nd to Kassiano (won again since in higher grade) lto & ought to have the legs of these.

Despite running green, Emotif 5.05 ran a cracking time on her 2yo debut, yet still won turning handsprings.
Highly thought of (intended UAE Derby runner) she wouldn't have been suited by the steady pace of the Guineas, and was recovering from illness anyway. Beaten just 2l that day, the benefit of a run, and the step up in trip, should see enough improvement for her to win this convincingly.

runs in the 4.30, down to handicap now.

Thanks, jft.
Saw your post but didn't have time to look at the race again, so I just had a tenner e.w. with Laddies at 14/1. :D Shining times.
Nice one Stan, too.

had my eye on this after your original post back in January, and his subsequent two runs. Thought he looked well in yesterday, but only got 9's!

Uninspiring card for a Super Saturday, but Krypton Factor (2.15) stands out. Needed last run but still ran a blinder, and head and shoulders above these.
Would be well odds-on, were he trained by a UK trainer.

For those at a loose end, final cards are already up for Saturday's DWC meeting.
Ch4 Racing will be covering some of the races, including the big one at 6.05.
