Hard to believe we are two days away from the season's premier jump racing festival and we don't have a dedicated thread. Shame on us.

Anyways - a question to start us off - will JJ Slevin have first pick of the Munir/Soude horses trained by WPM or does he need to await Townend's preferences?
 
I think Slevin gets the choice if he doesn't then what's the point of the retainer ? Has that happened previously with their retained riders ? Can't even think who it was when I was last around, Daryl Jacob springs to mind.
 
Paul Townsend always got to choose ahead of Daryl Jacob with double green runners trained by WPM and I’d expect he’ll continue to get first dibs. An interesting question though

To clear up the question of the double green JJ Slevin unlike Daryl Jacob will ride all the double green horses on both sides of the water. Gaelic Warrior looks a banker and kalif De Berlais could easily come out on top in the Scilly Ilses despite being the outsider of the three principles

Expecting Majborough to confirm he’s a top star in the making
Hoping that Harry Derham horses are back up to snuff and Queens Gamble confirm it on Sunday.
Interested to see how Willy De Houelle and Grangeclear West go for future reference
All in all, it’s a couple of “wish I was there” days.

Grange Walk 4.05 ( already mentioned in the longshot thread )
Festival winner Good time Johnny 2.25. Well handicapped if the dodgy trainer, takes the handbrake off.
 
Elliot skipping with his top horses and H de B seeming well out of form and sending a smaller team likely to be even more of a Mullins benefit this year.

Gaoth Chuil ( Ted Walsh, and around 14/1 ) was second in the 2:25 three mile handicap hurdle last year before running disappointingly ( pulled up ) in the Pertemps Hurdle Final at Cheltenham in March. Last run was 4th of 20 over an extended 3 miles 1 furlong at Navan on December 7th, and the amateur jockey claims 7 pounds. His father was quite good too.
 
No bets in the Grade 1's just hoping Gaelic Warrior and Lossiemouth do the business for ante-post purposes. I am half tempted by Champ Kiely in the PJ Moriarty though.

I've a couple in the tasty looking handicap chase on the Sunday in Pinkerton and Monbeg Park. The former owes me nothing after a couple of nice wins in the last year and the latter has been in my tracker since the start of last season and this is his first go in a handicap like this.

Inside Willie's, he'll get what he is given/ can politic for
 
You are 100% wrong. The conditions of his agreement with Munir/Soude is he rides ALl their horses no matter who trains them.
On a separate issue go listen to Ruby on the road to Cheltenham site talking about it is up to Paul what he rides not Willie who trusts him to make the right decision.
 
Wasn't sure if Impair Et Passe would be taking Ballyburn on..4/1 on the machine is absolutely huge..talk of Ballyburn being a Gold Cup horse and the next coming will look silly if he gets beat and I think he will

Big race at Fairyhouse on Sat 11th Jan.
Townend took the ride on Hunters Yarn for the double green over JJ Slevin.
