Ebor Meeting - Races not involving the Great One.

She has gone to the equine hospital with a suspected broken pelvis. (Twitter)

Did you see the interview before the where John Gosden said his only worry was that the horse had grown since her last run. Id imagine he's devastatedhe ran her but hindsight is a great thing.

I was keen on Beyond Desire for the last run at Goodwood, but maybe he needed the run. He drifted in market big time that day and all in all he wasn't beaten a million miles. There's some massive prices floating about on some decent horses in the Nunthorpe and I think I'd rather dabble on Beyond Desire to place than go with a fancied one to win. My old Ascot mate Dandy Boy is another who I couldn't put anyone off an e/w bet.

Royal Diamond is screaming off the page to me for the Ebor. Could have a huge amount of improvement in him on decent ground being a Kings Best.

Gordon Lord Byron again is a much better horse on decent ground and should win the first.

Saddlers Rock is a lock in the stayers race.

Ebor a fascinating race. With the form DK Weld is in his filly must be bang there with the going and Leigh Roche taking 5lb off.
Great to see so many Irish horses over even if only for the ground. Memories of the 1970s when P J Prendergast farmed races with Bonne Noel, Sarah Siddons etc
Ballydoyle must be p****d off they have so few runners all week; a lot riding on the Triple Crown.
lots of rain forecast for tonight so wait until morning to see what falls. I was there in 1988 when ground went from good to firm to heavy overnight; they have drainage improvements since but all the same....

Different track since those days, edgt, and rarely subject to extremes of ground,
Cambourne won't mind any rain that falls, and looks a typical Gosden group horse in handicapper's clothing.

They brought Gordon over for the better ground, but he'll handle the soft ground as well as any of them too, big bet for me

2.00..Beacon Lodge

taken 14.5

Nicholls horses now firing and i can see his improvement from last 2 runs being put down to the first time eyeshield if he does win this..conditions are right for him..will need a good pace to run at and should get in this field...is also just about the highest rated here

I wonder whether Harrisons Cave could win. No real reason for backing him other than he's trained by O Brien and with a featherweight. Sometimes thats all it takes.
