Now look boys - I was going to put myself up for the part of Tonks untill you gave away the incentive to oust Dame Maggie..... B) ( not so sure about when they invite Hagrid to join in though....... )

Thought the book was fantastic - far, far better than the last one which I was a little disappointed with. Yes, it was very dark - very sad too. The only criticism I'd have is that it ended too soon!! Roll on book no.7 - & I hope it is as much of a belter as it promises to be.

I finished it on Monday and I actually cried...can everyone please finish the book and let me know? I think I need councelling...

I've managed to avoid this thread till I finished the book just in case.

I must be the only one amongst us who thinks this book was dissapointing with not a lot happening, although it was needed to fill in some gaps and the ending fairly obvious and the only way it could have finished (cant say any more wouldnt want to spoil it). No 7's got to be a good read there is a lot to do if its going to be the last.

Dont get me wrong, I love the Harry Potter series and cant wait to be reading it to my little ones, tried already but I think I enjoy it more than them. The latest book just left me feeling a little flat, as did the the Goblet of Fire (why not leave the portakey under his pillow). If nothing else its got me drooling for the next book, if just to see if I'm right about a few theories.

How did you find the Goblet of Fire disappointing....both that the the Order of the Pheonix are my two favourites from the collection. Much darker than the early editions.

I liked the Goblet of Fire too - that would be my idea of the best, followed by the Half Blood Prince, then close between Prisoner of Azkaban & Order Of The Phoenix (founf OOTP a little disappointing as a lot of it was slow, but having said that due to the memory problems I have I can't remember much that happened in it).

The reason I liked Order of the Pheonix so much was because we saw a completely different side of Harry's personality the darker side.

Prisoner of Azkaban is much the best - the last time she had a proper editor too by the looks of these evr increasing tomes.

Bah bloody humbug, James!!! Have you read the Half Blood Prince yet? I'd be inclined to say she ended this one too quickly - almost as though she suddenly thought "bugger, it's too long, better finish it up quick". That would be the only slight criticism of the book that I would have - it seemed to finish prematurely, on a cliff-hanger with a lot of questions unanswered. It left me desperate to read the next one!

I would think that was her (or any other authors) aim!

Yes, you're right Aidan, but it was a bit of a shock as all of the previous books were pretty much a story within a story & were basically wrapped up at the end of each term. They always leave me wanting to read the next one but this one left me desperate to read more - the thought of waiting another 2 years is not a good one!

My sister has that theory too Isty!! Comes from when Dubledore said in the earlier books that "part of Voldemort was now in him" or something along those lines. Think it was during his explanation of how Harry had some of his powers (parsaltougue and knowing his emotions etc) due to the attack when he was a child.

If it is Harry he must be a horcrux but in error as Voldemort clearly tried to kill him.

I think the key is the bit at the end of Goblet when Dumbledore's eyes light up when he finds out that Voldemort used Harry's blood for his reincarnation . Harry's mother's protective magic is thus in Voldemort too and i reckon he will find that he can't kill Harry due to that.

I also wonder whether there might be an Aslan moment with Dumbledore- why did Fawkes not come and peck Draco or Snape's eyes out as he did the Basilisk

I think one of the horcrux's is Harry Potter and I am dreading the next book as my dad told me that in the last book, either Harry or Voldermort will die. If Harry dies then I will feel like reading the books was a waste of time...

The book was well written and entertaining, but, like someone else here mentioned, when I'd finished the book, I felt as though not much had actually happened, that I was just being strung along until the next book.

My meoney is on Fawkes being Dumbledore's horcrux.
And where did you get that idea from??!! ;) The only flaw in that theory (as pointed out by a friend) is that you can only create a horcrux when you murder someone - has Dumbledore murdered someone?

I also wonder whether there might be an Aslan moment with Dumbledore

I couldn't agree with you more, Ardross. I still think Snape is on the 'good' side too, it was made too obvious that he had betrayed Dumbledore to be true. There was also very little bantering or anything going on when Snape did kill Dumbledore, he said nothing & just killed him outright which after all those years it just doesn't feel right. I reckon Dumbledore & Snape had a plan hatched between them & Dumbledore will be back.
