Exchanges versus Bookmakers

Loosely speaking Bots are automated programmes/systems that will place/lay bets based on predefined conditions that you would set.

Have a look at the BetAngel site as they have some tutorial's that will explain a lot about trading/arbing etc

Thanks Aragon, just curious so I could follow some of the threads that crop up now and again.|

I use the Geeks Toy costs 120 quid for a life time or 20 quid for 3 months.

It has a training mode which is actually linked to Betfair with real prices bit your playing with funny money. So you can mess about trying laying Dutching place betting or just trading.

More than a few simply trade making small amounts from each race before the race is run. It's amazing how many favs tend to move in the last few minutes before the off. A horse might be a solid 6/4 shot on the books but you can almost guarantee 5 minutes before the race he'll hit something like 2.8 or more on Betfair then drop to 2.4 then go back out again. A clever trader might have 200 quid on at 2.8 then lay back at 2.4 and make 25 quid and move on to the next race. Even if they get the odd one wrong they won't let their stake run and accept the loss if the horse happens to drift to say 3.25 so they lose about 28 quid. Over all these guys win but you need the patience of jobe and discipline plus be willing to sit there glued to the screen and you might only pick up 1 pound 50p or whatever but they don't care a win is a win. Too much like hard work for me when I was doing it and decided it was more fun losing
