After discovering a lump in my eyelid I've been told by the doctor it's a cyst, and if it's no better in 4-6 weeks I will need to have it removed by an opthamologist. Which all sounds a bit freaky to me. Has anyone had experience of this and can tell me what to expect?

I got one removed recently.

I can't remember the medical term for the nature of this particular cyst but it had developed due to a blocked tearduct. (I still can't believe Rooster Booster's defeat last year didn't clear it.)

Want the details?

krizon.
Tried them all with little long term succes.

Golfing very soon, but will reveal all on my return at around 1500hrs.

Could well be a sebaceous cyst, had problems with those myself, not on the eyelid though.

Had several removed from my scalp under local anaesthetic.

Good luck! :D

Triptych, could you not tell your Mum that the cheap red wine may have caused the cyst  , and the Doctor has reliably told you that the purchase of wines over £4.99 (a bottle) will certainly help in the healing process! :D

THE CURE FOR COLD SORES (Herpes Simplex)

Nettle Tea.

Can be purchased from your local Health Food shop.

Make it just like you would make a normal cup of tea.

Take it three times a day for one month.

Take two weeks off.

Repeat.

Keep on repeating the above and you will be free of those pesky cold sores.

It is quite possible that you could have a cold sore (if you have one due) in the starting phase, but persevere.

Can I add a shot of Jack Daniels to it, Colin? :P

I get them occasionally when I've been out in unexpectedly bright sunlight after months of winter drear in the UK. After the wind-blasting and roasting at Plumpton, it's probably only a matter of time 'til the dreaded tingle starts. :(

Thanks, though - I may well give it a go, since it'd be nice to not sometimes look like I should be wearing a bell round my neck and crying 'Unclean! Unclean!'.

Hope the golf went well - did you pick any nettles out of the rough?

hi krizon.
The Golf went fine,i just need to do it again today in the young whippersnappers tournament this afternoon (i do like to take a bit of dosh of those)

Just remember to us you lip salve outdoors and your sun blocker factor 20000.

The nettle tea should sort the CS problem.I was very sceptical at at first but, even though the tea tastes like gnats urine,it works.

Derek, are you saying cold sores never come back after drinking that stuff?

(Mind you, I'm not surprised <_< )

You've got to drink something that tastes like gnats piss three times a day for a month? I think I'd settle for the cold sore

Maurice.
Gnats Piss as in English Mild Beer.

The tea tastes ok,but not as good as your normal tea.

I spend a lot of time in on the Golf Course/practise ground in the summer months.

Since i started on the Nettle Tea i have not had a Cold Sore. (almost a year)

I have no idea if i am free for ever, but so far so good.

As you know,Cold Sores last, total around three weeks, fom itching to clear up.

So i am as happy as a pig in shite at the moment.

I had mine removed in January and was told the residual lump would disappear in a week or two. It's still there. Can I get an answer from Ophthalmology?

Could well be a sebaceous cyst, had problems with those myself, not on the eyelid though.

arent they the ones with hair and teeth in? I cant remember ! ( give me 7 months away from a vets and i forget the lot!! )

Tryptich - best of luck - I'm sure everything will be fine.

Remind me, Derek - it was nettle tea, wasn't it? I've bought some in the hope that I remembered correctly! I often get the beasts when I get too much sun or a bit run down.

Good Morning krizon.
Yes,thats correct.

One cup in the morning and one in the evening.

Take for three weeks and than take a break for a week.

Continue as above.

You don't know what a relief it is to be free from them.

I was advised that the tea takes around three months to clear the body of the virus.

Good Luck

Update:
Still symptom free and full of the joys of spring.

What about you Colin and krizon?
