Fairyhouse kicks of a 3 day festival today which includes the Irish Grand National

Steeped in history the race has been won by greats like Arkle, Flyingbolt, Brown Lad, Rhyme N Reason, Tied Cottage and Desert Orchid.

There may not be anything that good in the race this year but there have been some huge bets going around for Nick Rocket 7/1 to 4/1

Trained by Willie Mullins who has only won the race twice before it could be a 3rd' He certainly has all the credentials.

The punters seem split between JP's Spillanes Tower and WPM's Blood Destiny.

Blood Destiny beat Spillanes Tower by 7 lengths over 2 miles but over this longer trip Spillanes Tower
beat Blood Destiny by 2 lengths.

Spillanes Tower just edges favourtism but there was a giveaway interview with Mark Walsh after his win.

Blood Destiny looked all over the winner until after the last racing wide apart he may just have ben cloud watching because somehow Mark Walsh got Spillanes Tower
up to win.

Mark Walsh looked amazed he had got up and said "I thought I was booked for 3rd 2 out" I honestly believe had he challenged on the same side of the course Blood Destiny would have beaten him easily

I reckon Blood Destiny is the best of the week and will be looking to grab some 2/1 if possible

Today Conyers Hill returns for what promises to be another hold up heart in mouth bet for me to watch.

Jumping Jet jumps off the page today and should win for Gordon Elliot

I must be out of pocket by about 2k overall with Conyers Hill today would have put me about that amount in front.

Fooking 33/1 shot not won in it's last 20 races stuffed me:mad:

The winner ran in 2053 Arkle and has raced 23 times since. I reckon she has raced more than any other horse in Ireland or Britain over the last 18 months.
She also won a Premier handicap on Irish Derby weekend beating a handicap plot from HdB.

I managed to get the best prices 3.1 and 3.0 available on the machine before it was cut. Now there's not much money around so he might drift.

The Splillane Tower and depending on Blood Destiny not getting home in the ground but personally I think the Mullins horse is a big improver and will win easily

Watched it again i still can't believe it..the winner had gone completely going to the last and even the commentator had written her off

If they could bottle what ever it is that gave her the ability to turn certain defeat into victory they could make a fortune

I was sick of the parrot after Blood Destiny never looked like winning at any point.

I then backed another monkey with Sean Bowen on board that got trounced and I was fuming at myself for missing out on the winner.

They say never back when your angry but with steam coming out of my ears after Conyers Hill and Blood Destiny Istuck my entire bank on Patrick in the last on the machine

About 3 furlongs out I tried to cash out but it failed and I thought **** this game and just let it run.............Suddenly everything else was pushing and shoving and Patrick was just having a canter and a look at the people

Horse could have stopped for a chew at the grass and still won.

Ended up 43.89p in front for the day :) :) :) :)

I've gone hook line and sinker on O'Moore Park any price you an get take it....he looked a proper horse here last time.

He's running in a handicap off 133 and looks thrown in against a poor bunch.

Next in the batting gets 20lbs off him but he's never met a horse anywhere near as good as what the Mullins horse appears to be

What kind of race was that.what a strung out field.

How great to see Munir & Souede’s decision to send Intense Raffles to Tom Gibney - as opposed to Mullins et al - pay off and we can only hope that it encourages a gradual distribution by the powerhouse owners of their horses across the smaller stables.

Though I suspect it won’t.
