Fancy taking us on at Cheltenham?

Those clowns over there are so stuck in their ways they probably don't know what Talking Horses is. We are certainties.

I remember the initial inter forum comp back in the day. Betfair had just started, and even had a market up for it. What was the fourth forum though? There was TH, FF, TRF and another but I can't remember who it was.

I'll tell you what, if you think you can stretch to 15 players, we'll make it 15 a side, but don't blame me if your lot start coughing on the day of the race and can't make it to the track.

The rules are quite simple, if you beat your opponent you score 1 point, but in order to stop something ridiculous happening like one player having £20 each way on Hurricane Fly in order to avoid scoring nothing, only to be outdone by his or her opponent having £21 each way on the same horse, I suggest we stick to the following rules.

£1000 to bet each day.
Three selections to be made, only one of which can be each way
Minimum stake £250 win or £125 each way.
Maximum stake £500 win or £250 each way

There will be quite a few nil-nil games .

How about:

Tuesday: 12 singles matches
Wednesday: 6 double matches (12 players from each forum play in pairs)
Thursday: 6 double matches (12 players from each forum play in pairs)
Thursday: 15 single matches

I think you mean there will be quite a few games where your team scores nil.

So are those rules acceptable to you guys? We don't want people winning their match by having £5 ew on Quevega.

Also I don't mind having doubles involved, but I think those matches should count as extra, as well as the singles. Finally, you suggested 15 or even 18 players, well we'll match that if that's what you want to do.

How about 15 singles matches every day, and 6 doubles matches too, with the match decided by the combined total of each pair? Whatever we decide, can we decide it today, so that I can make the rules clear to everyone on FF?

Yes agreed. I think it avoids your sceanario which is good and it makes settling easy which is important. Now can we use my format for order of play each day?

I'd like to play in doubles on the Wednesday/Thursday. It will spice it up a bit. It's too easy for you to throw out your usual 12 in any other and let them do all the work for you. Let's see you put a bit more thought into this year.

That's over complicating things Ted. By playing 6 doubles matches on Wed/Thur we're almost guaranteeing it will all come down to Friday and 15 or 18 players can fight it out on the last day. By playing singles the first 3 days it could be all over.

Ok, we'll do it your way, but I do want to try and involve as many of our players as possible, so how about 15 singles on Tuesday, 7 doubles on Wednesday and Thursday, and 15 singles on Friday?

Good stuff Ted. Don't spend too much time figuring out which two guessers you pair together!

1/8

Just so as you are aware.
If anyone posts more than three selections, the first three in the order they are posted will be the ones that count. If anyone posts more than one each way selection, the first one posted will be the one that counts.

Posted on your kip. I reserve the right to change the numbering of my batting order until 9.30pm tomorrow night.

I should've said nothing and posted up some right old duffers

Then again, I probably wouldn't do much better if I was trying.

Is there anyone from TalkingHorsrs who indicated they wanted to play that I've missed?

I'm somehow missed out EC1 which was remiss on my part.
