Favourite Race

I would add Captain Random's victory in the Confined Maiden at Milborne St Andrew in 2004. You had to be there.

A couple of my favourite races would be...

Bijou D'Inde winning the St James Palace Stakes in 96. It was Weavers finest moment. What a ride. I ended up inches away from the TV set screaming incoherently.

The other was just a HCP at Newmarket in 2003. A horse called Hilltop Warning came to take it when hitting the rising ground. I'd run about snapping up the 50's available and the then new wife thought I was some sort of racing God. Was also my last proper bet before leaving the UK.

Lot of great ones mentioned. Galileo vs Fantastic light best flat race. With race being used as the most technical term - two horses going hammer and tongs. Moscow's Tingle Creek best jumps. Desert Orchid's VC is always one of my favs.

Dayjur jawdropping. Arazi's BC was the most obvious display of brilliance that I have seen. Frankel's 2000g the only contender recently. Fair play to C4/Production company for providing the shots of Frankel 4f out striding out free. Those who dont get turned on by that arent ever going to be interested in the sport.

2004 Tingle Creek
Kauto's 5th King George
2011 Champion Hurdle
2013 Champion Hurdle
2014 Champion Hurdle ;)
Dato Star's Haydock CH Trial win
Remittance Man's Champion Chase

The Viking was half a length down as they approached the last, he took off first and just battled all the way to the line.

You beat me to it with that one. What a warrior the Flagship was. Broke my heart (and bank balance) when he failed to complete the QM hat trick having seen off what everyone thought was his chief rival in Sound man

my favorite one is the Tingle Creek Moscow beat Azerty and Well Chief

on flat
2000 guineas of Pennenkamp and Celtic Swing

Loads of great ones already mentioned, some of mine would be -

Flat - 'my' Derby and Kingsgate Native winning the Nunthorpe at 2

Jumps - Tidal Bay's Lexus, Sizing Europe's Queen Mum

I'm having bother with this one because there are numerous criteria that I could use for my "favourite" race.

on the basis of money won - Rail Link's Arc and Scatter Dice (120/1) in the Cesarewitch.

on the basis of having my theories about value borne out - Reams Of Verse (Fillies Mile), My Emma (Yorkshire Cup) and Ramonti (Queen Anne)

spine tingly type stuff - Jumps - Kauto Star's last King George and Inglis Drever last World Hurdle

Flat - Frankel (Queen Anne) and Montjeu (KG6QEDS)

I wouldn't know where to start but Ben Nevis's Grand National would have to be on the short list (but I won't go into the story as I've done that one several times).

Obviously the 2003 Champion Hurdle would be another.

I can't believe what I call Crisp's Grand National hasn't been mentioned yet either.

The thing is, we don't get to see enough replays of the great races.

Specify's National
Connaught Ranger's Triumph Hurdle
Sea Pigeon's Champion.
Dahlia's Arc
All Sea Bird's big wins

LIke I said, where to start...

Can't remember Dahlia winning an Arc ?

Most of the races mentioned on this thread are on You Tube somewhere

Sorry, meant her first King George.

Her superiority was probably exaggerated by the way the race unfolded. Sectionalists would probably be able to tell us she got the only efficient ride that day but it looked awesome at the time.

Yeah a lot of good ones here...High Chaparal had some memorable races too. His dead heat in the BC Turf obviously, but the Derby against Hawk Wing was enthralling to see a classy horse outstayed like that.

Trying to think of some less obvious ones here. What's Up Boys in the Coral Cup was very memorable. Also the time Juveigneur and another I can't remember were pipped by Joe's Edge in the William Hill Chase.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the Harchibald Hardy Eustace Champion Hurdle.

Im surprised no one has mentioned Dancing Braves arc

Very early memory would be wayward lads third KGV

Dancing brave hasn't had a mention cos I hadn't got here yet ;) have now though, and yes - that arc....

Plus Arazi's blistering breeders cup race as a 2yo.

Jumping, I could watch happy's short head second in the grand military forever and still scream him home, plus po's market rasen race where he lead for a whole quarter of a circuit.... More traditionally for this thread the champion chase with Viking flagship, deep sensation and Martha's son (I think? I'm sure someone will put me right when I'm wrong there) jumping the last in a line...

That's my number one. Poor Falbrav. Sea The Stars' Derby & Eclipse were great races to be at. Remember Ouija Board and Alexander Goldrun locking horns all the way down the Goodwood straight? Good times.

Flat: Dancing Brave Arc, Nashwan King George v Cacoethes

Jumps: Dessie Gold Cup, Carvills Hill Welsh Grand National where he spread eagled the Gold Cup winner among others: was there and will never forget it......sometimes the hype comes true.

My third would be Make A Stands Champion and my fourth would be Cue Cards Bumper(money reasons)

But I'm only allowed two :p

I should give a mention to Amberleigh House in his grand national win.
one of my biggest ever wins and met my partner that night. obviously up there for me

difficult to select one. this lot spring to mind.

amberleigh house grand national 2004 as mentioned above
sea the stars arc
denmans 2nd hennessy
kauto's 4th & 5th king george
hurricane fly's first champ hurdle
big buck's 3rd world hurdle
frankel's 2000 guineas
black caviar's diamond jubilee win
frankel's juddmonte international
sprinter sacre's melling chase

if i had to pick one....i think frankel's juddmonte. as i was there for it and it's arguably his greatest performance.

this would probably be second.....
