Im planning on having my first ever trip to Cheltenham for Champion Chase day and would like you kind folks to advise me what is the best enclosure to be in? I see Tatts was £45 but Best Mate was £22-£33.
Thanks.

I'm expecting it to be choatic all over. I can't see how they're going to 'comfortably' accommodate 50,000+ every day, whilst the redevelopment is ongoing. The Best Mate enclosure is at least on the other side of the track, and might actually be the lesser of two evils.

We go in Tatts every year but it really depends on how you want to spend the afternoon. If you want to watch every race at course side near the bookies but also like to see the horses in the parade ring there's quite a lot of to-ing and fro-ing and no-one knows how the building work will affect pedestrian flow.
If you decide to go in Tatts and buy in advance, choose the print ticket at home option. For another option, some of our group buy from touts at the course and have never yet paid the 'on the day' price. They are Essex boys though.

There's also the option to buy a Tatts ticket and, if you don't like it when you get there, buy an upgrade to Club on-course.

Not 100 % sure they do upgrades at the Festival

edit it's only Gold Cup day they don't upgrade so you'll be ok to upgrade if you wish

There's a risk that tickets bought from touts have already been used, something the touts themselves mightn't even know. You should insist on them coming to the turnstile with you to make sure you get through.

I don't buy from touts, I got my tickets in November. These boys know the risks but they know their way around and their judgement has been sound up to now.

Your replies are appreciated folks and I have ordered a club enclosure ticket for the wednesday

Please note that doing this for all four days of the Festival, will turn your pish into Kia-Ora by Saturday morning.

My my old boss did the 4 days and had a wedding in Ireland on the Saturday....his wife wasn't too impressed when he had to go to bed after dinner with a dose of the shakes.

Yeah I plan too
I'll be driving so will have to set off quite early but I plan to take in as much as I can
I'm rather looking forward to it I must say

My first Festival was in 1979 and have only missed two since. I envy the expectation and excitement you will feel. Hopefully you'll pick up a couple of winners which will crown the day. Enjoy!
