Festival Trials Day Cheltenham Sat Jan 29th

Ahoy Senor not declared.

✅Chantry House
✅Aye Right
✅Simply The Betts
✅Santini
✅Kauto Riko

That is damn annoying wasn't even a hint they would pull Ahoy Senor out. It might actually end up the right move keeping him to novice company

If Chantry House can't win this in a canter he's got no place running in the Gold Cup

Connections said all along that Ahoy Senor's preferred target was Wetherby, I'd imagine this entry was just speculative.

Really? Someone should have told Grassy:(

I always knew there was a risk they'd wait for the Towton, though I figured (incorrectly) that they might want some course experience before running at the Festival (albeit on the new Course). Also, Lucinda wasn't quite as unequivocal about Wetherby during the week - which is what prompted me to bet.

Nothing ventured nothing gained. We move on.

It appears Gordon's horse Pied Piper has had travelling companions this weekend and Tiger Roll has looked fresh this morning and seemed to be enjoying a trip around the cross country course ridden by Davy Russell and will be undertaking a bit more work here tomorrow morning.Mortal had a school round the cross country course as well.

I have to say, as far as trial meetings go, this one should be prosecuted on charges of fraud.

There's a chance Champ might be involved at the business end of the Stayers' Hurdle but that's about it.

I think Paisley Park is gonna give Champ a race tomorrow

Mcfabulous doesn't stay and the other 2 are rags

5/1 E.W is a bet to nothing if the 5 go to post

I am convinced Hillcrest would not have run here if the rains had come at Doncaster.

Whether that reflects on how good they think he is I am not sure.

Nicky Henderson has a sound line through I am Maximus to Hillcrests abilty and he's on several occasions in the past spoke highly of Balco Coastal
He did at one time consider running him in the Rossington but when things started to get tough finding the right race for Jonbon that idea was scrapped
The fact he won a 3m p2p tells us nothing about his staying ability that we won't know until he runs today.

If he does get the trip without any fuss I think he'll murder Hillcrast for speed on this ground today

Wouldn't dream of haveing a star bet on him but he's got to be worth risking a right few quid on today

Balco Coastal 3.85 and 3.75 on the exchange taken

I thought Hillcrest - who I noted I don’t think Nicky Henderson can be wildly adrift in the very high regard he has for I Am Maximus, but Hillcrest just galloped him into the ground after the last leaving the rest of a decent field toiling in their wake. Hillcrest must be some horse, he’s built like a brick blockhouse and a chaser type through and through who has no business winning hurdle races so easily. although it’s really chasing I’m waiting for.

He surprised the Henderson camp that day and the way Balco has drifted i don’t think they are behind him. I don’t back drifters, but I have had a little saver to protect my Hillcrest bet.

No idea how Nico managed to get Chantry House home there

Extraordinary way to win a race there by Paisley Park. I have never seen anything like that in that type of race.

I've been out all day and only just seen the replay. No WAY he was going to win even 2 out. What an amazing, amazing horse. Going to watch it now on iplayer just so I can hear the post race interview for myself. Brilliant stuff.

Wow! That was some performance from Paisley Park, especially after his generosity at the start!

He absolutely flew from the final bend, and wasn't stopping up the hill, that was amazing!

Well, that was a double bummer. Not sure Hillcrest will get another run now before Cheltenham, but I think I’ll stick with him there. Looked good for the short time before jocked off.
