Thought it was brilliant, Two magnificent performances by Nesbit and Neeson.
Going through the window unnecessary but fair old plot. Worth watching on I-player if you missed it.

I thought James Nesbit overegged it a wee bit but it was still a riveting watch from start to finish.

I'd heard the radio interview with JN in advance of the programme so maybe someone Can tell me if I picked up something wrong...

Was it a true story, based on a true story, or fiction?

I was sure he'd said something about the first half being based on a true story but the second half was fictionalised as the two men never actually met.

I thought Neeson was brilliant but then again when is he not?

There has been at least one such encounter on tv between a killer and relatives of the victim though I haven't seen any of them. The presence of film crews and media presenters must surely tend to distort such events, and the decision of the Nesbitt character in the film to back out of such a staged meeting was one I could easily sympathise with.

But in the political world confrontations between assassins and intended victims have been relatively commonplace. Every time Ian Paisley or John Taylor met Gerry Adams or Martin Mc Guinness in a tv studio they were coming face to face with people who had ordered attempts on their lives.

DO,
The initial incident occurred, the shooter is a peace negotiator however the victim's brother would not agree to a meeting. The meeting is therefore fictional but it is apparently based on long discussions with the real life principals

Would this have something to do with why Jimmy Nesbitt is sporting a ridiculously unflattering beard at the moment? I actually stopped as I walked past him a few days ago, ready to ask what on earth was it all about, but when he looked at me I lost my nerve, smiled and walked off.

It wasn't for 'Five Minutes of Heaven'.

He isn't the handsomest guy in the world but the beard doesn't do anything for him.
