The Jumps season is always enhanced for me with the ding-dong verbal scraps I have on here from October to April. It's like the cherry on a very large and delicious cake, and there's always some tremendous jousting to be had. Indeed, I'm trying to give Euro an education on his delinquent/sap/lemmings ways, when it comes to the phoney Grandouet and his chances (none) in the Aintree Hurdle.

Anyways, it occurred to me.......do the Flatulent Tendency have similar scraps in the Flat threads? Or is it more of a formal, bri-nylon-clad, affair?

Serious question, and not intended as a dig at the Flat (which needs no attacking anyway).

No. its just swapping numbers around. This is rated that and that is rated this and my micky mouse clock timed this at that. Its like spending an afternoon with auditors

I dont understand the negativity towards the flat, although im sure some of its a bit tongue in cheek,id rather spend the week at cheltenham rather that royal ascot, but wouldnt u rather watch tues to sat at ascot that week than worcester, market rasen, hexham, newton abbot??

Nope

Summer jumps is even tough to take

Winter is when racing begins and May is when it ends

I seldom watch dross Jumps racing either. I am more Derek Hatton than Michael Foot. :D

As for watching the Flat, I would rather shovel sh*t endlessly up and down Kabul High St, whilst being whipped by the Taliban and wearing a 'Please drone my ass' t-shirt, than watch a Flat race.

i don't mean to sound cruel and cold and heartless....but I am, so that's how it comes out Bill Hicks.

:lol:I respect your views GH and your indefatigueability in the coming months:D

Racing fans who are 100% jumps or flat are missing out in my opinion. As much as the Festival is the highlight of any year 2000 Guineas day in May and the Arc in October are two of my favourite weekends of the year.

Euro....I tried it - many moons ago - it is not for me; simple as that.

PS. I do occasionally make an exception for the Arc, I will admit.

You sneaky so and so

I have fessed this up before, granger. The year Westerner finished second (Hurricane Run won it?) was the last one I watched. Otherwise, I'm out there on the lunatic fringe in every respect.

I think a lot of it comes back to the Cheltenham narrative really. A lot of the sparring is done in the context of the Festival - particularly the championship races. People nail their colours to the mast quite early on - both financially and sentimentally - and loudly and sometimes irrationally defend their chosen pokes. I should know; I have a slight bit of previous with that sort of carry on...

Just read my posts. I bracket horses into five categories:

Dirt
Useless
No Good
Not bad
Alright

I'd happily go to Hexham every day of the week!
