A user has very kindly offered me a free £5 bet on Saturday via the Cheltenham tickets. (User isn’t even receiving the tickets, very kind)

Anyhow, got me thinking. I picked Fakir D’oudairies, and if it wins the money being donated to the forum upkeep. (Guessing its not free to run a forum, me and IT aren’t the best)

Enough racing brains on here to produce a decent double and if it lands click the donate button at the top and donate some of the winnings.

Ive made a few quid reading this forum, maybe we could give something back. Hope im not talking out of place making this thread and feel free to delete if so!!

Always thought this would be a good idea for a thread. When the Will Win thread was at its peak the donations were very generous.

Still think it's a great idea DJ, and ought to generate funds to keep the forum solvent. However, it seems there's little stomach for it on the site generally, and your initiative may not receive the success it deserves, imo.
Having said all that, I'm going to be out of here, anyway.
The reason I left the Racing Forum was down to one guy's wish to dominate the place, producing reams of tedious tripe, and and endless repeats of much of it.
This forum seems to be moving in the same direction, and I want no part of it, my sole interest is in racing discussion.
I'd like to thank the mods for their forebearance, and those members who've shown an interest in my contribution.
I wish you all the best for the future, and, of course prosperous punting.

I tend to agree Reet, but rather than leaving I would suggest simply putting said poster on ignore, I have done this for a few weeks now and it has been a blessing! I am assuming we are talking about the same person!!

Horse Racing forums have been destroyed by obnoxious know it all shite hawks, but this place is or at least was different, don't give up on it yet!

I'd be happy to donate all my free bets to the Forum costs initiative.

Ref: Reet - I personally feel that the Forum is deeper than it has been for years - I like, BoS, have used the 'ignore' key judiciously and it helps greatly. Stay.

I can still see your messages.

I'm on another forum and we have one on there that is worse than anyone on here by miles.
And we seem to be leaderless and cant get rid of him.a proper headcase.

There’s other forums? Tbh never looked, only ever used this. Doubt any will be as knowledgeable as DO and Slim, unless they use others as well.

Please reconsider, reet.

I haven’t got a wide experience of horse racing forums, but this is easily the best I have come across. There is a depth of knowledge together with civilised and interesting debate from people who come over as a friendly bunch with whom you would be delighted to share a drink or two in the racecourse bar. Occasionally gets a bit fruity or irritating, but doesn’t life anyway, even amongst the best of friends.

Please stay....you’re part of the furniture. There is always one person who rubs us up the wrong way so as others suggested, use the ignore button...that’s what it’s there for. I had some bad times on here in the early days when there were some unpleasant people around but fortunately they have all gone now (well from my opinion) but I did have several on ignore in those days. Life’s too short to let someone you are never likely to meet push you away!

I used to be on GG .com and when it closed down,a new one was set up and like you I didnt know there were others then one day I looked and found this one and tried it.almost 5 yrs now.

Would you consider leaving?

I think I get just as frustrated as others (possibly moreso), but I think I would miss the interaction if I were to leave. And I don’t reckon there’s anywhere else to go as an alternative, save maybe for Twitter - but I don’t think that platform is particularly conducive to the kind of deep and ongoing discussion that can take hold here.

I don’t have the time to constantly monitor Twitter (so maybe I have it wrong), and I have no interest in moving to another forum such as TRF.

Reet’s concerns are something I very much recognise, but I also know that you can’t agree with all of the people all of the time. Barneys flare-up from time to time on forums. For me, it’s an accepted hazard when debating strongly-held opinions, and I try keep that in mind, whenever I’m in the middle of one.

In summary, yes I’ve considered it on the odd occassion (fairly recently as it happens), but I think it would leave a gap I would be unable to fill elsewhere, which is why I’ve always chosen to stick around. I would miss too many of the characters, I think.

Natch, I apologise for the fu*cking essay.

Ditto

I fvckin love it here. Great minds involved in great debates. It is often a real intellectual exercise, deciphering the form, especially the lead up to Cheltenham. I have genuinely learnt so much over the years, and have even felt confident enough to weigh in with a few considered opinions. It beats working hard at my job, for sure. I’d say I could have a drink with 95% of you!

Erm pal, I was kind hinting that I'd hope you'd **** off and leave.

Great post.

if the forum could survive the seeing of ghosts and spirits from years past, it will survive the knickers in a knot messing now

The best medicine for toxic comment is good debate and a variety of topics and angles

There is an ignore button I guess, can't say i'd use it out of stubborness but if it makes your life better, do!.Anything that makes your day a small bit better, take advantage

Now back to finding winners, revering Hurricane Fly, and counting down to mid March
