Fred Goodwin

I heard the same Andy. Apparently there is a shoot-on-sight policy for anyone looking to raise their cash card withdrawal limit.

Andy.
I've already given my opinion of the guy amd what he received. From day one when the facts have emerged I have argued that the Government should and would step in but also impose the appropriate conditions. They have consistently failed to do so.So its not a question of taking sides. I'm am trying to assess the relevant facts and then come to objective conclusions based on the options that I see are available.
Anger and emotion are not the ideal conditions for making sensible decisions and are likely to increase the likelihood of getting it wrong. As an example it seems illogical to me that any person working in the public sector and expecting a good pension should be shouting for the Government to take action to prevent someone receiving contractually agreed pension payments. Be careful of what you ask for as once that door is open who knows what comes in!

Clivex. I don't know what it is that you can't have. If you are talking about my comment on the likely number of people that knew the true nature of the purchase of sub-prime assets at RBS I would suggest you are more than likely wrong.

Protection from vigilantism is an individual security concern for which a citizen should not expect to receive help with from the police?

The Police turning up, then proceesing to investigate an incident is what I would expect, definitely not full time security.

Hard to believe 2 things from this article..

1. RBS are paying for CCTV at his house
2. The tax payer is paying for a police car to sit outside his house.

These are individual security concerns, and he should be made to pay for them.

Ridiculous.

RBS have deployed home security for Goodwin for many years. Retention of same may be included as part of his severance/retirement package, or perhaps it is simply cheaper to leave it in place, rather than remove it.

I can't see the issue with the polis being parked outside his house, if he is clearly a target for malice.

He had one incident, as had probably several thousand people in Britian so far in 2009. I doubt very much all of these people have been afforded the same level of service.

A bit off topic, but whilst we're on the subject of corporate greed, Michael Fingleton surely deserves a special mention.
