Does anyone else play much on consoles.
I have just traded in my old Xbox for my 3rd gamecube. I have now owned pretty much every console and I have enjoyed playing on them all but I think the PS2 is the most over-rated. The main reason for trading back to the cube is to once again play Resident Evil 4, I think this might be the best game I have ever played.

Merlin - I am sorry to admit that I dont have much of a life. I moved to where I live now not actually knowing anyone so while I am gradually improving my social circle I spend most evenings alone in the my flat, That is how I find the time!!!

Mr GG is as I type shooting lots of soldiers (German ones I believe) on his Xbox 360.

Oh good luck OVVERBRUV in your search for a new social life!! I never meant to knock that or you!!

But I live alone and I have a few hobbies also but not games consuls, and have to do ALL chores its the joy of living in a three bedroom house alone.

Cleaning, shopping, cooking, washing, gardening, as a hobby! ( I have high standards too,) all need to be done, but I don't often go out to actually socalise, I am quite happy with/in my own company........... :)

Me too Merlin, thats why I dont go out much, I also only live in a very small studio flat which takes about an hour to clean from top to bottom so I play to entertain myself

I get the missus to clean the house and cook for me whilst I am playing my PS2. Never took to the Resident Evil games for some reason. Am currently playing LMA Manager - some Russian gangster has just bought Swansea and gifted them £500m. :D

Martin - how is G1 Jockey 4 - particularly the breeding side?

I could never get on with the PS2 controller, there were just too many buttons for me, I think the Xbox controller was my favourite. I havent played on a 360 yet but the graphics look stunning,
Simmo, you should try Res Evil 4, it is completely different in gameplay to the others and the storyline is fantastic, the arc will continue into Res Evil 5 and maybe beyond

G1 Jockey 4's a top game, I've never played on any of the others and it's still all Americanised, I've been informed of a straight sprint and mile track but I've yet to find them.

Also a few jump races too which is good, particularly if you go in "free mode" where you can choose criteria for the various races and they have the "bull finch" type fence like Auteuil called Large Brush and it's all in all very fun if you go to the right track.

Not too sure about the breeding side of the game, only played a couple of seasons in Career Mode and other than being able to "create" a new horse using the right sire and dam etc at the start of each season I've not seen any other breeding.

Does contain real horses like Scorpions, Electromagnetic, Indian Spinner, Shawanga, White Swallow etc.

Great game though and I'd recommend it to anyone into racing :)

So it skips back to that season does it? I suppose that'd be about right - I have G1 Jockey 3 and it skips back to Slip Anchor & Oh So Sharp. (Not sure if the tracks have changed or not but Normandy had a straight 5f)

How do the reins work? Sounds a bit gimmicky to me, not sure I'd be incredibly happy with that.

Overbruvv, I have the same problem with Xbox/Nintendo controllers - I guess it's just what you're used to - although I will admit to a slight problem with the shoulder buttons sometimes - on G1 J you can change legs at the end of a race (and thus gain a little more time before your horse decides to stop) - On a left handed course this is fine - hammering away with the whip with your right thumb, using left hand to change legs - but on a right handed course you have to reach underneath the controller with your left hand to hit the right shoulder buttons - so I know what you mean!

Yup, I've got a PS2. I particularly like Project Zero II and G1 Jockey 3. Oh, the Harry Potter ones are pretty good too!! :shy:

It's not really skipping back just using the horses from then - with changed names and that. They use same colours and the horses are same colour too so you can tell it's them. Also Al Kaased is murder to win on.

G1 Jockey 3 starts off with last year (equivalent) then as the game progresses it goes back through the previous 20 seasons, in order - assuming this one does the same, then you will find that there is more than just Indian Skimmer in there. Off the top of my head, you'll also have Miesque (Niesque), Reference Point (Reference Print) and Don't Forget Me (Don't Flip Me) as the pick of the 3yo's.

Are the G1 jockey games universally regarded as being good anyway? I've heard/read people discuss them before and they also felt they were good (or better). Maybe worth an investement.

The only games I play on the Ps2 are Tiger Woods and Madden, without doubt the best gae I've played.

It's a game called Call Of Duty 2. He says it's very good. He's completed it already so now he's doing it again on the hardest level. He swears a lot and gets cross with me for talking to him when he's playing it

I'll confess to a PS2 as well and am currently doing a spot of tomb raiding. The other half prefers 'run around and shoot' kind of games such as Call Of Duty as Griffin mentioned above, Medal Of Honour and that awful Grand Theft Auto Los Andreas or whatever its called.

You mean GTA: San Andreas - the finest game ever committed to any console, ever.

Is a good un Will, remember myself and my old housemates campaigns on 5/6 star with England in the World Cup.

We'd beat France and Argentina and come up against a side with pace like Senegal and get beat in the semi's :(

Picked up a copy of G1 Jockey 4 yesterday.

**** me, it's hard. :angy:

Two winners with my first two rides, closely followed by two seconds. Simmo reckons he's got this sewn up and he'll be winning the Derby in his first season.
Then they stick me on a couple of hold up horses and I get well and truly stuffed.

Comparing it to G1J3, I would say that the Easy setting is comparable to Normal on this one.

The front runners are the worst Simmo, there's normally at least 4 of them in the race and you're well and truly stuffed if like me you can't master the drive.

Other than that wait for your retained yard to have horses running in maidens that the trainer thinks "could be a Class A horse" and then clean up :)
