Gerry Adams

Peter Hain, former Northern Ireland secretary of state

"It is still my very strong view that the past needs to be dealt with in an entirely different way.

"It has got to be handled in an even-handed way.

"If you're not going to bring prosecutions against former paramilitaries, whether republican or loyalist, then the same must apply to British soldiers on the terrible Bloody Sunday shootings for which David Cameron apologised.

"Now given they have arrested and detained Gerry Adams, I think they now have an obligation to go through with the enquiry currently conducted by the PSNI and arrest and detain the soldiers. Whether prosecutions result in any of these cases is an entirely different point."

Well, I never rated Peter Hain or half of his Labour collegues on many issues but he certianly is on the mark here.

Everytime i read a news bulletin now it involves someone or other being shot in Ireland, drugs dealers killing I.R.A or vice versa.

I'm not one of the cynics in front of the television shouting 'charge the *******' etc, because the man is part of a peace process.

If anyone wants to read an excellent unbiased article on Jean McConville -Google London Review of Books -Diary-Susan McKay.

I am not sure has more nonsense ever been written in one short post.

Really? Can't see to say why though other than your obsession with Bloody Sunday.

Adams is a senior politician who aside from the execution seemingly made pretty obvious threats to the son.

He's a serving politician. That makes it an issue

It will never be proved but as we know from his family paedo behaviour, he's a liar of course

Reading your posts is like reading the Mail.

But much funnier.

The intelligence services 'know'! You don't understand why 'killers' get to go free.

The intelligence services got right into the IRA. Even supporters would acknowledge that. They knew full well who was giving what orders and where. They know whether Adams ordered this

Totally naivity to think otherwise

If they knew, Adams would have been arrested a long long time back. They have their suspicions, or are nearly sure, but no proof, and hence can't 'know'. This is rather basic stuff.

Clueless

They knew the chain of command and they knew who gave what orders. You can be pretty sure of that. They know the likelihoods of who did or said what.

What they cant do is prove it in a court of law. Thats pretty clear isnt it?

In the crime world, theres any number of gangsters from the Adams to david hunt who everyone knows does this and that. But they cant be tried> what did they get al capone on ffs?

Im talking about the north london adams family.

No. IRA was never involved in crime...fcking hell

Peter Hain is a complete **** and not to be trusted about anything. I remember when I was taking my Dad to what would be his last game at the Arms park with Wales playing RSA. The prick was there with his army of rabble hurling flour bombs at all spectators. Young ,old ,female .
