Godolphin add new trainer

They're not Sheikh Hamdan's, they're Sheikh Maktoum's/Gainsborough Stud's.

It's really weird, because Lammtarra won the '95 Derby in the Green colours of Saeed Maktoum Al Maktoum, but he was running for Godolphin. So it's so hard to work out when the Royal Blues were actually brought in and which horse won the first Group race in them.

That's not hard to work out. Lammtarra was owned by one of the Maktoum's relations and trained by Alex Scott as a 2yo, he won the Washington Singer on debut. Sadly however one of Scott's stable lads murdered him in the Autumn of the 94 season and many of Scott's horses were left in a sort of limbo. Neil Graham took over a few of the horses (Leslie Graham's husband) but Ed Dunlop was then placed in charge of Gainsborough Stables. However a few of the horses were moved to Saeed Bin Suroor, not under the Godollphin banner, one was Lammtarra, who after a setback returned to win the Derby on his seasonal reappearance.

Cavalryman doesn't appear to have progressed since leaving Fabre - however I suspect he will be better back in Europe.

Perhaps we should have a " horses that go backwards at Godolphin thread " -

What's your point?

I think what Flame means is that although he was trained by Bin Suroor he wasn't actually running for Godolphin hence the green colours rather than the usual blue.

But Godolphin claim it as one of their winners on their website. There were a number of horses in those days running different owners, such as Hamdan Al Maktoum who had the useful Bint Shadayid who won the Prestige Stakes as a 2yo for Bin Suroor while owned by Hamdan. She was also third in Bosra Sham's Guineas for the pair. He wasn't even limited to Sheikhs' horses then either, as Suroor trained Don Mitchellito for the Oppenheimers who won a Leicester maiden in '95.

Ahmed Ajtebi rides Simon de Montford for Godolphin in the Prix du Jockey Club on Sunday. Frankie will be riding Pain Perdu for the Nicolas Clement stable.

This is becoming as absurd , it looks like the one is adopting these decisions is Zapatero.
I dont see SDM with much of a chance but they have lost one clasic already in the season and Atjebi is not good enough to beat Hayly Turner in a finish.

Anyone see Atjebi on the Godolphin 2 year old at Newmarket on Saturday (elliptical I think) - fair enough, he was green in the last 2 furlongs, but there is no way he should have been beaten - Atjebi didn't seem to know what to do.
