I hope when Songsheet has a moment, she can tell us who is who. :) It was great to meet you Songsheet!

Well done Julie! What a great accolade to you and all your hard work. You must be really proud.

(Great photos Diminuendo, and your accompanying comments are very good too!)

Aarrgh, tis all about the double muscling, m'dears....

Huh - if you though the BB bull to be big, let me tell you that there was a Charollais bull there that was simply humungous! It would have made Thomas the BB bull look small!

Anyway, thanks to Dims for the brill photos (as usual - we expect nothing less now!).

The first picture was our 15 month old heifer, Newpole AB FAB (she got Reserve Best Female). Next up is the infamous 28 month old TAMHORN WEE LASS, who came second and finally, NEWPOLE ASSET, who is 13 months.

All pedigree cattle names have to start with the a different letter of the alphabet according to the year - for BB's, 2005 was back to 'A' again (WEE LASS being a 2004 heifer), hence the names AB FAB and ASSET.

Other breeds do the same but Ruby Red Devons, for example are on, I think, 'F' this year.

Right - totally knackered - I'm off to bed!

Brilllllliant! Brilliant results, brilliant beasties, brilliant piccies! I am so chuffed about Wee Lass's second - just sorry I wasn't to hand to help shampoo them all and prepare them. Isn't there a view of Julie in her show coat striding womanfully around the ring? :brows: I think we should be shown...

I didn't buy anything up at Carlisle - the sale-topping bull sold for a cool 21,000 gns!!

But to top off a very good Devon County Show, young 10yo Pip won the Intermediate (10-15yo) Junior Handlers Section for Beef cattle this morning and then beat her opposite number in the Dairy section and got several whopping great rosettes, a silver shield and some dosh!! All with NewPole AbFab.

We've had offers to buy both AbFab and Asset but as her grandmother said to the chap who wanted AbFab, if you buy AbFab, you have to buy Pip as well.... As far as Pip goes, there's no cheque big enough to buy that heifer!!

BUMS AWAYYYY! Love the last one, Dims! All brill, as ever. I've sent Julie a special card, which she may or may not choose to share, and I'm renaming her 'Queen of the Dairies' from now on - I know she'll probably hate it, so all the more reason to do so! ;)

They are really amazing beasties: I can't get over those double-muscled bums, dwindling down to such tiny dainty feet. They're like little ballerina feet with a hippo on top! So sweet, though.

I love em too Kri, they have such lovely natures. I think they like having their photos taken too, they couldn't wait to come over and check out the camera. There is nothing quite like a lick from a cow!!!
