Good To Be Alive

Sunny Cornwall again today, the clocks go forward on Easter Sunday, lighter evenings at last ! Just seen an item on sunshine and skin cancer on BBC Breakfast, does anyone ever take any notice ? They should !
Good Friday looks the best day, ideal for the Open Days, might go Newton Abbot races Sat, but if it's claggy like they predict may be a wimp and watch it on ATR.

"Claggy" - Would guess at misty/rainy??

My favourite descriptions down yer is 'dimpsey-dark' - meaning dusk or gloaming & 'suant', meaning a cross between fluent and smooth/flowing.... often used to describe the way a crop or a group of animals are looking!!

Nope - more for the fact that they go well over the top in my view. Some old guy was on tv within the last couple of days saying that no-one should go out in the sun without a hat, t-shirt & minimum SPF15 sun tan lotion on, and that even then they should not be in the sun at all between the hours of 11am - 3pm. Now, it's one thing being sensible (not that I am I might add, I'm as blonde as they come but I still go out with no sun tan lotion most of the year round in Southern Spain BUT I am careful not to burn & I realise fully that I am running a risk) but I do think that a lot of these experts do scaremonger about how high the risks of skin cancer are. It is only within the last couple of years that they have recommended that everyone wears a minimum SPF15 in the sun & I do think that there is an element of exaggeration in making out that if you don't follow their guidelines you will get skin cancer. I could quite easily be knocked over by a bus crossing the road but life's too short to go worrying excessively about what may or may not make you ill in later life.

I read somewhere that if you want to gauge the effect the sun's had on your skin (so far) you should compare it with the skin on your bum. I wish to feck I'd kept out the sun now and I was of the type that ended up bronze. When you think about how long it takes to get a tan and how quickly it fades it's a total waste of fecking time. Having said that I'm away to sit out the back .

... following quick gluteal inspection: well, that's heartening, then! :) Having spent most of my life in desperately hot countries, and not having bothered to ever put any creams on, my bum's in much better condition than the rest of the body's skin!

Its 6.50 am, theres a blackbird who's gonna get it up the jacksy in the minute, and tis proper outside my 'andsome.

The emmets landed yesterday. New surfboards, shorts and flip flops, they arrive at the beach, get out wax their boards, (erm.you're supposed to wax the top mate)down the beach they go like a cat on a hot tin roof cos the stones are too hard for their ickle feet, one of them stubs his toe and is hopping round like a deranged punk rocker, they run in the water, then run out straight out again cos its not 25 degrees, back in and outside the flags cos they think the bit between the flags is the dangerous bit, (well it is holding a board like that sonny),. Instead of floating the board on the water and kneeling on it to paddle out the back they carry it on their head and then when someone speaks they turn round decapitating everyone within eight feet. They catch a wave all of six inches high and do a triple somersault with pike into nothing more than a puddle.

"Yep that'll do for today then, that was fun wasn't it"

The silly season is here.

Gonna give it a miss, leave em to it on the A30 and take a leisurely drive over Dartmoor to Newton Abbot races.

See you tonight folks.

How did the interview go, DG?

Colin
As well as I could hope Colin thanks. The company involved is a fairly large one, £50 million turnover, with production sites in North Devon and Somerset as well as offices in Shanghai. Before I was hit with redundancy last year I had always worked in Logistics and had contemplated a change of direction, but this vacancy arose and I gave it a go. To my surprise I was offered an interview last week which took two hours and then was invited back for a second one on Thursday which involved a comprehensive tour of the site, an interview with the the MD which I knew nothing about, and a personality test ( that should bugger it :D )
All that took another three hours so I presume they are a little bit interested.

Should hear end of next week..fingers crossed

I'm sure if you want entirely unsolicited testimonials, all of us will be delighted to provide them, DG! :D Sounds like a 'go' to me. Keeping everything very painfully crossed for you, sweetie! :o
