Graham Lee

GRAHAM LEE has been cleared to return to the saddle, although not soon enough to ride in this weekend's Scottish National at Ayr.

After being seen by a neurosurgeon on Monday, Lee, who has been sidelined for nine weeks with a broken jaw, confirmed his comeback will be at Wetherby on Sunday week.

“I have missed Cheltenham and Aintree, and now I am going to miss the big Ayr meeting, but at least I will be back on the first day of the new season,” said Lee, who is on the 89-winner mark for the season.

“I am fit and ready to go,” he added. “I am in the gym every day, riding out regularly, and in my opinion I could ride tomorrow. But you have to leave these things to the medical people and they have decided April 27 is when I can come back. It can't come soon enough.”
