Harry Potter

The Lion, the Witch & The Wardrobe was a good film but a little too sterile for my liking - people being stabbed & stuff yet no blood materialising. I was also a little uncomfortable with Mr Tumnus - he seemed a little too suggestive for my liking; he was almost seducing Lucy with that twinkle in his eye.

I thought it was ok but nothing as compared to Lord of the Rings, there hasn't been a winter film to really look forward to since The Return of the King

On the plus side, next year should give some great popcorn films :-

Superman Returns
X-Men 3
Mission Impossible 3
the Da Vinci Code

it might be that none of these will win any awards but i reckon they will all be more fun than harry

Loved Harry Potter but Lord Of The Rings was exceptional, so a bit unfair comparing them.

Dom I thought Narnia was really shocking, terrible bland stuff and poor directing. Hard to believe (given the story line they had) that they messed it up so much. Special effects were just "ok" too.

X-Men and The Da Vinci Code (never read a book before that reads so like a movie script) should be a bit of fun watching this summer. Looking forward to seeing Jarhead and Munich in a few weeks.

I'd agree to an extent about TLTL&TW, Gal. I liked hte fact that they kept to the story exactly & didn't change it [bar the additional opening scenes] - but it was awfully sterile and unrealistic.

As for the Da Vinci Code - I loved the book, read it in a day; but I can't help but feel that the film will be disappointing.

I downloaded THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA made a DVD last night(for my two granddaughters its not a film that appeals to me!!!) I am downloading HARRY POTTER(for them) now (its running in the background when I am on the web) via BITCOMET takes ages but its free................. ;)

I am also dowloading INDIANA JONES...I like H-F films so thats mine..... :P
It maybe free, but also illegal. :o

Have just watched the Goblet Of Fire again on DVD and there's a brilliant additional scene of Jarvis Cocker singing 'Can You Dance like A Hippogriff?' at the Yule Ball.

Fantastic isnt it! (and I never knew that what my mates 4 year old calls dancing is covered by "spin around like a crazy elf" )

Loved the film - have to say I would have my reservations about letting youngsters watch it - but I'd be a dreadful parent,so what do I know!!

Roll on no 5 and book 7 !!!!

I saw both Harry Potter and Chronicles of Narnia on DVD recently. HP I loved - I know they missed bits but i expected this. On the other hand, Narnia was very poor and I was disappointed. Wooden acting and as Dom says an overly suggestive Mr Tumnus. I think the BBC series they made a good few years ago was streets ahead.
