any views on this?..looks some easy throw outs..so lots of value here

1st fav - Sole Power - won't win at 6f and is too old
2nd fav - Gordon Lord Byron - too old
4th fav - Tropics - too old

G force hot streak & extortionist are 5f hosses

automatic selection based on the market alone is MUSIC MASTER

improving and must be hard to beat..can't find a negative

cougar mountain & baccarat to follow home in 2nd & 3rd

thats my effort anyway

Gordon Lord Byron worked after racing last Sunday and Tom Hogan was delighted with him.
He badly needed the run two weeks previously having been injured at Royal Ascot.
Faraway fields beckon for him again later so on good ground as he is the only Group 1 6furlong horse in the race he should be value at 5/1 or so.

Agree with edgt, Gordon is the only all age 6f G1 Winner in the field and on good ground off a rest then prep run he looks the bet at the prices.

agree about sole power not wanting the extra furlong (or the rain) but fairly harsh to say a horse is too old to win a group 1 in a season where he's already won 2.

i've backed cougar mountain e/w

6yo+ have supplied 28% of the runners in the last 10 years..but only won 10%

GLB ew at10/1
The recent heavy shower will help

It's Haydock, so there's no telling what the ground will be, though GLB looks the obvious choice with any cut in it.
I'll take a chance on G Force at the current 10/1. Though he might never match Sole Power's gearchange, he'd surely have beaten the rest cosily in the Nunthorpe with anything like a decent passage and, on breeding and form, ought to find more improvement for the extra furlong here.

looking at the race times:blink: yesterday..on a flattish 6f track..and referring a little to the old standards the grounds was Good..74 seconds for both div of the 6f handicaps is about Good..unless he has totally altered the whole terrain of the course..ie put some hills in or whatever

first time today if it is good should be in the 59.5 to 60.5 region.

to say its a flattish track he has certainly made a mystery there..but there are clues.

shouldn't be like this should it?

they just interviewed Richard Hughes..they have had rain this morning and he thought there was give yesterday..wouldn't really argue it was on slow side of good..not good to soft ..so it looks like we now got genuine Good to soft ground here now after the rain..will know for sure in a few minutes

All helping Gordon's cause, ground will be fine.

As good as Sole Power has been this year he pulls too hard for 6f and I don't think he'll quite get home. Proper 5f sprinter.

Sole Power is noticeably worse the further he goes and has to be taken on. Gone with Gordon (managed to get 10s a week or so ago) and Music Master.

i backed this last time..was unlucky..maybe they been running it at wrong trip..good call

Winner cost £25k. Well done to the connections as its difficult to understand how he went for that kind of money with his pedigree and debut performance. The guy from middle ham park said there was nobody at the sale and he had run in between being catalogued. Surprised Hannon/Qatar/Redvers sold him.

Yes a bit of a Makfi sale disaster . Sole Power was never going to win once the rain came down.

Cheers guys. Nice call Aragorn, too.

Hard to understand the market on this. Wrong distance and wrong ground, yet the money poured in for him?
