Horses Out For The season (NH)

Very disappointing news about Mossbank. Was really looking forward to seeing him Lexus day at Leopardstown. I'm down to 9 for the '10 to follow' already...

GRADE 1-winning hurdler Fiveforthree, who was as short as 11-2 for the Ladbrokes World Hurdle with Victor Chandler, is likely to miss this season after failing to please trainer Willie Mullins.

Fiveforthree won the BallymoreProperties Novices' Hurdle at the 2008 Cheltenham Festival, but has been limited to only five starts since then, although he did win the Ladbrokes.com World Series Hurdle on his last start in April.

Mullins revealed in his Racing Post Stable Tour last month that Fiveforthree, who runs in the colours of the Olde Crowbars Syndicate, met with a setback at the end of last season and would not be seen until the spring.
However, that scenario is unlikely and Mullins is quoted on the BBC's website saying: "Fiveforthree has not progressed as well as I would have hoped."
Mullins also posted the following on his Facebook page on Wednesday: "Disappointing news, we've shelved Fiveforthree's plans because he was not making the required progress and we will now wait for next season."

THE 2006 Hennessy Gold Cup winner State Of Play faces a spell on the sidelines after sustaining an injury when pulled-up behind Denman in this year's race.

"We found a problem in his lumber region and he is very sore,"said trainer Evan Williams on Thursday.

"We've treated that but he will have to have a good break now and we won't see him until the spring."
He added: "We're going to have to work away now and, hopefully, we can get him to the National."
The nine-year-old finished fourth in last season's John Smith's Grand National and is a general 25-1 shot for next year's race.
