House Buying

I have a new house!   Now for the months of redecorating as it is covered in woodchip wallpaper and has an extremely pink bathroom! :what:

Heh - you could probably sell for a profit just by stripping it :D
So true...

It happened to us in our second house. It took us a fortnight to remove all the woodchip and three coats of "One Coat" only barely covered the shocking pink ceiling in the bedroom. It would be enough to put me off buying another house with decorative challenges.

Ah, woodchip - mind you, jolly handy for covering over lumpy or cracked walls! Have you also got a heavily-Artexed ceiling, Trips? My personal favourite. I once took a sweet 2.5 (called 3, if you owned a dwarf) bedroom bungalow in a part-x, and the sitting-room had a COMBED Artex ceiling in great swirls like waving corn, a fancy cornice, striped green and pink floral SHINY paper to a dado rail, then a solid dark pink down to the white skirting boards, finished off with a heavily-patterned "old granny" wall-to-wall carpet. I was so stunned by this melange of horrors, I found the bright 'peach' (tangerine) bedroom with patterned borders quite restful. But it was in Staffordshire, where, as in Cheshire, they throw every decorating idea known to man at every room.

The house I'm currently living in had artexted ceilings, artexed walls in the kitchen and, wait for it, most of the doors, facing and skirting had been artexed. The old guy that used to live here had an artexer in the family. I had all the artexed ceilings and walls plastered and personally replaced every bit of wood in the house. There should be a law against artexing.
