International Hurdle

I have always been a big fan of Zarkandar. Something very likeable about him.

I think it is 50/50 between Grandouet and Zarkandar at Cheltenham, but I wouldn't be surprised if Grandouet blows Z out of the water. For me, that makes him much the most likely challenger to an on-song Hurricane Fly at the moment.

He's huge if he wins that's for sure:D

Hurricane Fly is such a talent when he's on song he'd be 6/4, if last year had never happened, as things stand now.

How old is the Hurricane now? Getting on a bit come March. Chuck in the fact he's a french bred Montjeu with a history of injuries I wouldn;t want to be backing him now... In fact i'd be a layer at current prices.

This years Champion will be run at a proper pace. It would not surprise me if Zarkandar led or was very handy along with Rock on Ruby and the race is won by a proper stayer.

Isnt all this debate just showing HF may still be quite a big price?

I was against HF for the Champion last time, but there is no reason why he shouldn’t again do well in 2013. He seems as good as ever and could be value at the price.

I was quite taken with Zarkandar. Although he seems to come under pressure earlier than some he is very resolute and grinds the finish out of the others.

Darlan is the one I've got my eye on though.

i think you are correct..the make up of the race is looking stamina rather than speed..i wouldn't want HF or Grandouet in those circumstances

the pace will ...as it did last year ... mean the late pouncers will get their sting drawn.

Make a case to run Oscar whiskey?

I'd be tempted if I could be sure they'd run him in the Champion. But the yard have a embarrassment of talent for this race. They are quite hopeful about Darlan and if Binocular gets to post on a day free of muscular problems he would again be the standard to beat.

I'd take Oscar whiskey and simonsig to both run massive races if they got a run.i was quite sweet on Darlan but maybe form of last years novices not that strong.although I'm convinced he would have won when falling in the betfair.I'm waiting for him to run to lay a bit off to be honest.I know there's a lot to be played out pre festival but I seem to be being pushed to HF and I have never been overly mad on him like some.If he wasn't right last year the current prices could be generous.I'd back binocular day of the race at double figures.

That's pretty much how I feel about all of these.

Will either McCain or Henderson want to take on their possible main novice chase rival so early in the season ?

No doubt the two have spoken and they know already if they are running or not.

Overturn has the advantage of having been there and done it which is a huge plus I just wonder if Nicky would be keen on letting Simonsig try to match paces with him on his first outing......not exactly the ideal schooling session if McCain's charge jumps as well as he did last time.

4/6 Overturn runs and Simonsig doesn't me thinks....be a cracker if they both turn up

they are both also entered up at haydock on saturday

would be more than a little surprised if overturn ran in the expected ground at either venue

The way Overturn Jumped fto,Simonsig would have a lot on his plate and would need to put in a more than solid performance. He swerves it imo

No news so far on what they are doing. tbh I never knew they were both double entered but I'd have thought Overturn would go for the 2 miler at Haydock with his style of running, ground permitting, rather than the longer trip at Ascot where Simonsig would probably more at home.

Can't see them both going to the same venue now when they can both take decent money home if avoiding one another.
