Turkey: Soumillon won earlier on the William Haggas-trained Master Of Hounds. They held off the Brian Meehan-trained Archbishop for a British-trained one-two in the Istanbul’s Group 2 Topkapi Trophy.

France: Aghareed won a Listed race at Longchamp for John Hammond.

Danedream had to work to hold off determined challenges of Ovambo Queen and German Derby winner Pastorious. Probably a fair result in view of the misgivings about her chances.

Hills has eased Danedream to 6/1 for the Arc (from 5/1). Pastorius (third) has been cut to 16/1 (from 25s).

Pastorius was looking a likely winner, I thought, until faltering slightly in the final furlong. He came up the centre of the the track while Danedream might have had better ground up the rail.

I know Demuro has done something similar before in Japan, but his performance today might be the most idiotic thing I've seen from a jockey in a very long time.

France: Chriseti took the latest leg of the Crystal Cup series at Craon in impressive fashion, the 12yo has won this race in three of the last five years (he was placed in the other two renewals) and has won the last two renewals of Europe's longest Steeplechase at Le-Lion-D'Angers. Uncle Junior fared best of the UK/Irish raiders in 4th under Emmet Mullins with Another Jewel (Bryan Cooper) in sixth, Maljimar (James Reveley) seventh, Shalimar Fromentro (Johnny Charron) fell whilst A New Story (Adrian Heskin) took the wrong course four out.

I see Pastorius has been confirmed an intended runner in the Champion Stakes.
