Iraq Is A Factor - There Is No Doubt

Galloway will be what he has always been Homer - a joke and a particularly bad one at that.

His praising Saddam is not easily forgotten . Far greater numbers died under his rule than in this war and its aftermath . The message about how the Iraq war was wrong does not need such a vile messenger.
Anyone who risks everything he has by taken on the Daily Telegraph and giving them a bloody nose is alright by me. I'm not saying he is a great guy but he represents everything that this spin and media obsessed govt does not. We need a few political mavericks to counter the 'party loyalists' (one of whom he toppled in Bethnal Green) whose every move will be assessed against what impact it will have on their climb up the greasy pole.

In terms of far greater numbers dying in Saddam's rule than 'in the war and its aftermath', does that mean that the 'aftermath' of the war is now over? Another 17 killed in a car bomb today. I dare say (despite all the sanctions) the locals had a better chance of getting a hot shower 3 years ago than they do today.

Hardly fair on Oona King ,OK she supported the war but she is a independent minded woman and by all accounts a very good constituency MP , second permission to appeal has been given to the Torygraph so that could be interesting .Though it could be just against the damages award .

I notice that in Gorgeous George's rebuttal of the latest allegations that he received options to buy Iraqi oil from Saddam, the phrase used was "I have never traded in oil"

It might just be me, but I don't think anyone has actually said that you have "traded" in oil. That doesn't tell me whether or not you were in such favour with Saddam that he felt you deserved to be rewarded, if you so desired, now does it George?

Latest allegation from where? Ah yes, a US senate Committee. B)

The Bush regime has endored the report - that'll be good enuff for Reverend Blair.

I have no idea whether Gorgeous George was up to anything or not, but in the interests of accuracy I have to report that in reponse to the accusation of profiting from the sale of Iraqi oil what he actually said was: "Let me repeat. I have never traded in a barrel of oil, or any vouchers for it. I have never seen a barrel of oil apart from the one the Sun deposited in my front garden. And no one has acted on my behalf, trading in oil - Middle Eastern, olive, patchouli or other - or in vouchers, whatever they are."

Which is just a little more unequivocal than "I have never traded in oil".

I knew enough hippies who used it to avoid people noticing they hadn't washed when I was at uni thanks .

Galloway is a scumbag. Albeit, a very interesting political one. It's a good thing he won in the same way as its enjoyable to look at the aftermath of a car crash. We've all done it
