Irish Champion Hurdle and Arkle Entries

The same five horses will go to post for the Irish Champion as for the Ryanair Hurdle (NAP).

The Arkle is interesting- Mallowney is interesting after his performance yesterday but Defy Logic will be hard to beat.

Mozoltov cuffed Mallowney FTO, and is the sleeper in the Arkle market.....still available at 30+ on Big Blue.

I have a feeling that Willie may re-route one of the novices to the Champion Chase if the Spriter Sacre rumours continue close to the Festival. He looks to have three horses to run in two races. In my mind if the three were in different ownership they'd all go to The Arkle, so he may do that anyway.

The alternative is one is saved for Aintree, and right now Mozoltov would be the one most likley to go to Aintree Grassy.

Mr Nicholls is making entries for some of his novices in the Champion Chase according to the article DG linked to this morning:

Dodging Bullets will go to the Kingmaker at Warwick on February 8, and my other Arkle hope Hinterland could go to Ascot for what was the Victor Chandler, but is more likely to take in Doncaster on the January 25. Both will have a Champion Chase entry, too, though - if you haven't got a ticket, then you can't win it.

I am going to have to eat humble pie here. I was heard saying that 7/2 about JEZKI looked a great bet for the irish champ hurdle but after watching the race with more scrutiny I have come to the conclusion that JEZKI is no longer comfortable over 2 miles, he does not look to have the pace to keep up with a fast cadence and his turn of foot is more a slow acceleration than a burst of speed, he needs to be stepped up in trip if he is going to win at the top table, whether he can get 3 mile I do not know but he has shown he gets 2 mile 4 well and I do not know what connections will decide after he finishes maybe 3rd in this race. Could he go for the world hurdle, I have no idea to be honest, as their is no championship race over 2 and half at cheltenham, will they bypass it altogether or will they just stay it and go for the world hurdle. It looks an interesting one but I feel his days of being a top class 2 miler are forever gone:(

I still believe OUR CONNOR could hold value at 7/2 of beating the HURRICANE (you guessed it I have never been a fan of the horse even though he is spectacular) but he does have a bit to find with just a months difference but with JEZKI basically no good at the distance anymore he looks only to have HURRICANE to beat.

Bloody hell Hands... He's gone from a stonking bet @ 7/2 to turn over the best 2m hurdler since Istabraaq, to a tripless no hoper who is a has been less than 12 months out of novice company. All in the in the blink of an eye !

I don't personally think he's as suited to large fields - although he ran a cracker in defeat in the Supreme - but nevertheless he is just about as worthy opponent as there is at the minute.

haha I have to apologise, I must admit I got carried away a bit with the fact he got hemmed in for what was probably 2 seconds and I thought he was maybe unlucky not to win when I watched the replay the first few times but closer inspection has told me he has little chance of beating either OUR CONNOR or the HURRICANE and I am willing to admit my bold and arrogant view was ill timed and I am not afraid to admit when I think I have got it wrong:whistle:.

IMO he just looks to slow to make an impact over a fast 2 mile race, he was staying on wellish the last time but it was more sloth like than cheetah speed. It now becomes a 2 horse race in my view and even 1/2 about the HURRICANE don't look so bad anymore and surprisingly 4/1 OUR CONNOR is going to gobbled up now I regard it as a 2 horse race, not to mention the forecast aswell:lol:
