I backed Onesto (ew) in the race but even early on was wondering why HD was so far back on Nashwa. The pace did look strong, admittedly, and while some of the best jockeys in the world made a total arse of their rides in Quickthorn's race at Goodwood to prove that they're not infallible, how likely was it that both Moore and Dettori were getting it wrong yesterday?

John Gosden was ultimately critical of the ride she gave Nashwa at Goodwood and she's done it again here. I wonder if the owner is having thoughts about her contract.

I'm a fan of HD, by the way, but that's quite a few high profile bad rides.

I've decided to stick with Mr Wagyu (17/2, win only) in the opener. I suspect they won't want to gamble that he'll make the cut at Ayr off his current mark. Not a big bet and my only one of the day.

Given how Nashwa went through the early part of the race, a more forward ride sees her beat further.

NO real complaints after weekend.
Good spread of winners , APOB 4000 up in less than 30 years training.
Big Gossie gave me hopes for a bumper day but it fizzled out.
Great for David Egan to come good in front of home crowd.
Thankfully rain more or less kept off after first race.
Small fields , especially for sales race, a worry.
Roll on Lovely Listowel, throwmedownsomething !
