Irish Derby, Curragh Meeting in General.

Hard to believe Stellar mass was a maiden for so long. Don't know how many times I went to the well for him, gave up in time to miss out on his wins. Typical.

That was another tough performance from Harzand as Idaho had every chance to go past
Always a joy to see a horse absolutely bred for the trip pulling away where it matters
He'll be a serious player in a soft ground arc

Totally agree.

This is a well up to scratch Derby winner, not flashy but in Timeform's famous words "most game, genuine and consistent" and "a credit to his trainer."

I'd love to see him take in the Leger en route to the Arc but for some reason that's probably wild optimism on my part and I suspect we're more likely to see him in the Niel.

What i liked most about Hanzard is that he was so calm in preliminaries, broke really well and immediately settled into third position before running on like a lion straight as an arrow up the straight; all signs of a really good horse.
Arc is the one race D K most wants to win now i imagine, along with the Champion Hurdle of course.

Weld pretty much confirmed what we knew anyway, that Harzand to be given a mid season break to be brought back and aimed at Chantilly ( is Longchamp having work done?) While your obviously a slave to the draw at Chantilly, The standout 8/1 with Coral makes a lot more appeal than the likes of Postponed at 5/1.

Yeah Longchamp is undergoing renovations Fonz.

He's a good colt but he has a bit to find for a typical Arc winner. The question is how much more has he got in the locker.

Don't you think he's the son most like his father of what we've seen so far?

That was my exactly my thought. I had summarised him to myself as "reminds me a bit of Sea The Stars - tough, lazy, not flashy, only just does enough but we haven't a clue where his limits are yet" and then remembered that there's a very obvious reason for that resemblance...
