Irish Derby

With doubts about the next half-dozen in the betting, difficult to predict one finishing 2nd, let alone troubling the favourite.
He turns up - he wins; simples.

No news on Parish Hall?

I can't think of any O'Brien 3yo that well at Ascot. If Bolger's creature turns up he's worth a wager.

Ishvana surely? I read that Parish Hall won't make it, but I suppose you can't be 100% with Jim. Light Heavy will run for him though.

The ground is soft and with a forecast of a few dry days followed by rain it probably won't change much. Would they run Camelot if it turned heavy? Imperial Monarch looks a lively substitute and is interesting at the prices.

Parish Hall was being trained for the SJP until recently - hell of a transition to train him for a 12f race in such a timespan?

Another poor year. This, winner apart, is barely a Group 2. Disappointing, the GP de Paris has messed it up.

Camelot and the two fillies that were clear in the Diane apart the 3yo's this year are pure ****.

So were last year's with a couple of exceptions (Frankel obviously & Canford Cliffs) and the middle-distance 3yos were dire until Danedream struck for them in the Arc and she was German. Carlton House has improved a few pounds this season and he still couldn't get near So You Think. Sea Moon improved in the Hardwicke but it was a very average renewal for a race some people want upgraded to G1.

naharain won the opera
misty for me won the pretty polly

challenge , doncaster cup and hungerford........

I like it. I think more top meetings should be held in the evening in June and July.

Totally agree. Makes me more like to attend too as I can get all my bets on in the morning without rushing around.

Also ensures a bigger audience.

They should move the Oaks to the evening and probably the July Cup to the Friday evening too.

King George and Ebor would be candidates for Saturday evening slots too.

More chance of being allowed into Goodwood without a tie than them moving one of the big Glorious races to an evening slot. To be fair, evening slots wouldn't suit that meeting anyway.

If the forecast is correct (30 to 50mm of rain to fall between Tuesday and Friday) then there must be some uncertainty about Camelot's participation. Ground already very soft on the Curragh. Imperial Monarch at 10's maybe a bet.

I don't see it Barry. There is nothing to beat him. It's a penalty kick. There is not an obvious alternative for the horse. He will run and win.

11 left in. Akeed Mofeed, Astrology, Camelot, Born To Sea, Call To Battle, Daddy Long Legs, Father of Science, Imperial Monarch, Learn, Light Heavy, Speaking Of Which

To be fair if I had Main Sequence or Mickdaam or Shantaram I'd sooner go for the Grand Prix de Paris/Voltigeur combo.
