Indeed. Points given to trainer of the first 5 home in each race.
Trainer with the most points gets 20k credit voucher for the yearling sales in Ireland I believe.
On the flip side it takes a very good horse to win more than one top handicap in a season due to handicapper and once up in the ratings takes years to come back down. Nice to get a decent prize if only once.

Yes a very poor scenario for most of the runners. Not good enough to win listed so wait for a few pounds to be taken off, optimum conditions and one decent try at a prize before the handicapper grabs you again.
