Irish General Election - Any Value Here?

O'Caolain (SF) - 8564

75.1% poll in Monaghan. No figure for Cavan yet.

For all my talk I have no idea if this is a good or bad start.

Although for some reason it takes days to count the votes

You should find yourself a copy of the rules on proportional representation as applied in Ireland, consider that it all is done manually and wonder how a result is calculated this side of Christmas. I doubt there ever has been an instance of a recount that generated the same number of votes as the original.

Given that it usually involves random sampling, I'd be worried if it did.

I'm told Paddy Power is paying out on Bertie for Taoiseach. On the plus side Mary Lou appears to be in trouble. Horrible stupid woman.

I didn't realize that - I thought all they did in the recount was look for lost boxes and recount bundles, plus check that everything wasd in the correct bundle.

Paddy Power are indeed paying out on a 1/14 shot. They never miss a PR trick. What bothers me is that people think more of them for doing it. They were quickest to cut prices the whole way through the build up and if 1/2 was the price they were 1/3 etc.

Hmm... you could be right there. I'll see if I can find out for certain.

He is a monaghan man, hes from Monaghan town Ger! I think Smith will probably top the poll in Cavan, so i wouldnt be overly confident of hitting Your 13000 target. In fact, not confident at all....sorry bud! There is a big Sinn Feinn Following here, so he will get his biggest total by far here.

Listening to RTE radio - overall majority for FF? Seriously?

Jesus. I'm staying put for a few more years.

Thanks. I've seen another tally that puts him on 10k to Smith's 11k but its irrelevant if he can't even top his own poll.

Yeah it is a bit irrelevant alright. I didnt think Smith would top the poll here, quite surprised with that to be honest if it is accurate. Still think Willie o Dea was the bet Ger..

The 9/4 O'Dea was still on the screens in the shops when i left work Wednesday night, Celtic ended up 4/6 and were betting until close last night. Did you get on?

I didnt get on Ger, i was working late and it went clean out of my head!! Bit ripping now. I cant see an overall FF, but RTE radio are saying it is possible..

BrianH your bet could be worth a few bob yet!

:brows: How typical is that!! Ah well, nothin lost i suppose....EXCEPT ALL MY LOVELY PROFIT :angy:

Hope someone had a few quid on him.

Its a pity Betfair is so over looked for the election. I've put up a couple of lays at decent prcies for a couple ofhundred but no one is biting.

Looks like Pat Rabbite for Tanaiste is not such a good bet after all...He was supposedly nailed on a few weeks ago,not its looking like Brian Cowen will be the one..

McDowell is gone....never a big fan but loved how he handed Sinn Fein and Adams....I dont know who put this clip up on Youtube but it was the highlight of the election for me!!!
