I'm surprised too. I'd have thought Edwards was experienced enough by now to have this on his check list when you encounter such anomolies as this. It looks my far the most plausible explanation to me, as I can't buy this idea that every horse refused to let themselves down on the ground. It's normally the case that half a dozen will and prove to be particularly suited by firm ground and record blistering times in winning (as they did at Haydock for instance)
