Anyone got a view on either of these?

I was very impressed with Mustajeeb in the Amethyst. Race bets have him at 8/1 for the 2000.

Looks like the ground will suit Kingman if all these thundery showers arrive .

The track should suit Shifting Power but not sure if the ground will .

Someone at PP is having a laugh . I see they have Kingman 7-4 for the St James's Palace and Night of Thunder at 3-1 . Surely the ground is more likely not to suit Kingman at Ascot in June .

I've thrown the stat out for a few years now. Weld is the last Irish trainer outside of Ballydoyle to win the 2000. In 1986!

With the rain and forecast you wonder if some trainers will look again at what they run in this. Ground surely likely to be soft. Hensey commenting that he won't have to consider watering!

Entries out tomorrow will be interesting. Magician has been targeted at the Tatts Gold Cup, but surely this is one now for Ruler of the World?

I'd guess ROTW will go for the Coronation Cup and the King George and Queen Elizabeth. Magician may go for the Prince of Wales after the Tattersalls.

Re the Irish Guineas I had thought that War Command might make amends, but with the ground going soft (or at least softish), Kingman looks a mighty good thing.

Ruler is going for the Coronation, just thought this would suit him best on soft.

I agree, Nora, this is probably his best chance of getting a 10f win. Also, doesn't Magician prefer good or g/f ground?

If only the ground were goodish, I think My Titania would hose up in the 1000, but Oxx has said that they'll wait for Ascot if it's soft as expected.

8/11 Kingman
13/2 Mustajeeb
7/1 War Command
15/2 Shifting Power

4/1 My Titania
9/2 Lightning Thunder
5/1 Rizeena
10/1 Palace

Shifting Power looking quite good value ew at that price albeit one would be taking a chance re the ground

Not sure that Kingman would be the good thing his price implies, were the ground to come up soft on Saturday?
It's not as though he needs cut (more that fast ground might exacerbate his earlier injury), and to my eyes he was at the end of his tether on more solid ground at Newmarket, so his stamina for a slog round the Curragh is hardly a given.
It may well be that the rain doesn't materialise, or it turns out to be a small field with no real pace on, but I'd have him a piece more vulnerable than the current 8/11 allows.

Hensey has tweeted this morning that the ground remains Yielding. 4mm of rain yesterday but some good drying too. Sunshine and wind today.

Plenty of unsettled weather forecast so it will be on the soft side, how soft remains to be seen.

Remember that the going wasn't good to firm at Newmarket for the Guineas despite the official description.

If he turns up, i'll be place laying Noble Mission

He's a reformed character since they stopped holding him up, and no surprise at all for him to have too much boot for Magician on this ground. At current prices, even the forecast wouldn't buy a bag of crisps, though.

I think soft ground is a negative for Kingman

I came to the same conclusion and when they reportedly considered withdrawing him reckoned I'd been right but he seems to have gone through it well. This will open up further options for him although he might not have had that much to beat yesterday if the ORs of the beaten hoses are anything to go by.

beating a 114 horse 5 lengths..comfy..seems pretty good though

Yes, absolutely. I wasn't trying to belittle his performance in that it was probably in the 130 area (I have Shifting Power a touch higher than 114 and he did it easily) but take him out and it was a poor bunch. I reckon Night Of Thunder or Australia would have given them the same kind of doing.

using the 2nd yesterday as a marker i doubt whether Night Of Thunder will be beating Kingman again
