Is it all over between Nicholls and Sam T-D?

Your concerns are similar to the democratic Russian concerns...duh!!!
PN is not having a good time of it he's had 3 winner in 14 days 1 Sam rode and the other 2 he could not as one was Black Corton and the other a hunter

He has 50% of all his horses in the the last 14 days and it would have been more had he 4 legs and 2 arses

One of his owners paid 450k for him to get a top pointer from these shores a few months ago.

He should probably have better horses at his disposal given some of his owners[/QUOTE

Danny Kirwan. He's owned by the De La Hey's.

Chris Giles has pumped some money in recently too with Trevelyn's Corn going for 400k. He's definitely getting more into picking up some Irish P2P graduates where he can.

Yep thats the guy Bonjers

Doubt he will be seen until next season now

He's the first Irish P2P graduate I can think of that the De La Hey's have bought. Their stock has predominantly come from France.

This Danny Kirwan runs tomorrow in the bumper at 4:45 Kempton.
Currently Second fav behind the Henderson horse, Pym.
Seems to be a bit of money for Danny Kirwan tonight. Still a snaffle of 2/1 left with a couple books.

Say he is going to be minded with next season in mind

DK has a huge rep from the point scene. Id say he has plenty left to work with and they'd be delighted with a top 2

Initial thought is that the time doesn't amount to a great deal. Probably two fast horses beating slow ones in a sprint.

I'm still very happy with my bet on Rhinestone for Cheltenham.

PN looks to have something special on his hands Nicky's is very highly regarded and never got near him but agree with DO SO FAR Rhinestone would be my choice for Cheltenham

As for STD it seems clear PN is happy to share the rides about with Cobden and Frost . There is no way for example Frost would have kept the ride on Black Corton had Ruby still been Nicholls No 1.

Nicholls has done well to still be second in the trainer's table given how thin his team is on real quality.

He doesn't have a single runner in any of the graded novice Hurdles at the festival.

Only six left in the fourteen Grade 1 races, of which only Black Corton, Politiogue and Modus are generally priced lower than 14/1.

No runners in the four Grade 1 races on Tuesday.

I'm wondering if there's a parting of the ways on the horizon.

In the past fortnight Nicholls has had 13 runners. T-D has only ridden four of them.

Yesterday Nicholls had four runners, two at Doncaster and one each at Cheltenham and on the Flat AW at Lingfield.

At Doncaster, T-D wasn't on Warriors Tale which was beaten in a photo. At Cheltenham, Frodon won by no less than seventeen lengths under Bryony Frost. Her claim wouldn't account for that margin. T-D rode three for his father yesterday, one in the race with Warriors Tale.

I'm just wondering if all is well between them?
DO knew the score [emoji6]

It was no surprise the de la Hay horses were largely being ridden by Cobden and the owners clearly wanted him to ride their horses. STD stating he wanted to go freelance allows him to save face the owners did not want him.

Matt Chapman, I thought, didn't play his cards well this morning about this issue.

Bryony Frost didn't get as many rides as Cobden and was really only put up on those she either got on well with or off which she could claim her allowance. She proved time and again she's as good as most males and better than many.

I suspect it suits Nicholls to keep a few jockeys vying for rides rather than rely on one main retained rider. Hendo does it to a degree too with NdB not always getting the choice.

At the end of the day it isn't really that big a deal but they could have made the announcement much earlier when it was already evident that Sam T-D was no longer the main man. From a PR perspective, they've probably rescued the situation to an extent by allowing Sam to claim it's his decision to go freelance and spin the new arrangement as a positive.

He'll miss the retainer....and will RP keep him on, which is also a hefty amount of money? Although the column is usually more about his Dad's horses than Nicholls'.
