Watched part 1 of that Love lies Bleeding last night and it was on a par with all their previous "dramas" - incredulous, illiterate shite. How they manage to get some of the actors to take part (Robert Carlyle even appeared in one) beats me.

I think you mean "incredible, illiterate shite", do you not, HT?

(I presume you are describing the play rather than yourself?!)

While I was driving through Limpsfield village this morning, traffic was being held up as they were shooting a scene for Foyle's War. Saw Michael Kitchen as I drove past, but unfortunately not Honeysuckle Weeks.

Funny really, on another thread it`s pointed out how bad the Yanks are at quiz shows and how their version of Deal or No Deal is so terrible. And yet for drama the Americans piss all over everything we have done since Brideshead Revisited and Boys From the Blackstuff.

I know we have a few West Wing and 24 fans on here, i myself feel The Sopranos is the greatest tv show ever. And on top of that we have Deadwood and The Shield to name but two other classics.

Itv haven`t had a good programme since about 1985.

i think BBC have good dramas with Spooks, Waking The Dead & The Hustle. I prefer these to The West Wing & 24 etc. House is about the only american drama i can stand!

I read this morning that the BBC is to bring back the single play, as in The Wednesday Play and Play For Today.

Three cheers for whoever made the decision.

I love the theme tune (and the opening pics) from the latter. BBC4 showed a few Dennis Potter's a while back that were Plays for Today.

My parents are like that, they cant stand the Simpsons either. Sad really.

I watched one episode of 'House' recently and thought it very funny, although it might be a bit of a one-trick pony long-term. I love 'Hustle', though - we've managed some very glossy production values where even the ugliest blokes in it look halfway decent. 'Spooks' was good, too, if too humourless. I don't know anyone in any kind of work who loses their sense of humour, however black, in the permanent way that they do on Spooks and particularly on Waking the Dead. There's also a colour-bypass on the film, which becomes tediously pretentious.

Nice to see some of Poliakoff's stuff repeated recently and I think Sunday's offering may have been a new one.

Yes, Kri, House is very much a one-trick pony and why did they want an English actor for the lead?

Hmm... not sure that I get the fuss over his work. I watched the interminable one about the library that was to close, only to be eventually rescued by a rich American. It didn't half twitter on! I like full characterisations, and a rich layering of tone, blah, blah (I've no idea what I'm on about, really), but it seemed to meander everywhere. I know that's like real life, but it doesn't have to be made in what felt like almost real time!

Hustle is on it's way back - a new series is due to start shortly on BBC1. Bring it on, especially now Shameless has finished. I found myself watching the Shameless repeat last night even though I saw it first time around!

Pleased to see Hustle coming back - have really got into Prison Break on Five - so much that I was extremely pissed off when it finished mid-riot. A bit classier than Bad Girls, though!

Oh well I must be sad too then as I cannot stand the Simpsons, West Wing or 24 and love Spooks

I've always liked bad girls...
Why should I have known that was coming! Presume you are enjoying your second dose of Gabrielle as well by now?

Hustle is good stuff.

The best drama the BBC have ever made continues (repeated from its first run 10 years ago) at 10pm tonight on BBC4. I am of course talking about Our Friends in the North.

Wai eye Geordie lad.

Yes. I've even considered volunteering to do her garden.

Rather than her lawyer? I would have thought that far more lucrative than just trimming her...............

Ive given up on Prison Break, i gave it five episodes but it is just so preposterous and not very well written or acted, give me the West Wing any day

I missed it last week, probably catch up when Ch5 do an omnibus again. It`s ok.

Have you seen Oz? Set in prison as well, but far more brutal. It`s up there with the best HBO have done.
