Great to see him win so easily yesterday - he jumped really well and seemed very happy with himself .

I wonder whether - like his old superior, The Fly - Jezki wants softer-ground, now that he is getting on in years? His runs on quicker last season were truly awful, but he looked in good nick with himself yesterday.

It's a result to keep in perspective, nevertheless. He's probably won this running to about 150 (marked-up for ease of victory), but it's still a good way short of what will be needed to get competitive in a G1 hurdle. That said, unless Faugheen comes back near his best, the division in Ireland doesn't look particularly strong, and he possibly isn't for entirely discounting, in the right circumstances.

Edit: FWIW, I took 33's about Coquin Mans for the Stayers Hurdle, yesterday afternoon (to small stakes). That one is possibly even more dependent on Soft ground than Jezki, but I think it was a pretty-decent performance all the same, trying to concede a half-stone, over a trip that's likely well short of what he needs.

I also backed Sayar for the Supreme Novices (33/1 Powers), just before he won the Joe Mac yesterday. I thought his was a decent performance against two promising horses - especially since I felt he ran a bit green in the straight - and I think there's scope for more from this one. It as to be said, though, that the Layers seem less impressed, as his price hasn't budged an inch since the race!

Backed against him but thrilled to see the apparent enthusiasm once he started motoring.

Sitting watching some superb flat stuff from Chantilly and then watching him, fantastic! Different codes, different reactions, minimal betting but totally enjoyable afternoon in which a nice win by an old boy was the highlight.

Go Jezza! Or maybe not.

Great to see him my ass I place (2) laid him........serves me right for assuming BG would have been on him had he a winning chance.

These early season hurdles throw up some cracking results....he can't possibly be expected to win once they get going

Great record fresh, running against several horses who needed further and was getting all the allowances.

Agree with Tanlic, struggle to place him from here.

I didn't half **** Robbie power out of it after the supreme and I think he'd have made a great chaser but great horse and lovely memories to boot.

good sparring partner for forum favourite and superstar hurricane

Jessie mentioned in Irish Field saturday that she might send him chasing this season.
Hard enough to do so now I think .
From his first Bumper at Leopardstown I have been a huge fan of Jezki; he has that killer speed to put a race to bed and his jumping yesterday showed how good a Champion Hurdler he was.

Jezki's Tipperary performance was not far off what might be needed to take something like the Fighting Fifth. When you jump as well as that it keeps you in almost any race and he might be a small bit fitter next time.

We are in bad shape if Jezki wins any of the major trials.

Lets not forget what happened last season when he hacked up against Renneti and Tombstone then when he met a fit Tombstone he got turned over at 2/5 before running poorly in his nest 2 outings.

The race he's won wasn't worth a pinch of S*** with the Mullins pair running like they hadn't seen the gallops in a fortnight and Jer's Girl was never at the races.

Jezki with his past record showing he can still run a bit is something to chat about but talk of running in or winning Champion Hurdle trials is jackanory stuff.

If the likes of Irving can win such a race so might Jezki. Obviously if this season follows the same pattern as last year he won't, but there's no law which says it will.

I would imagine the WKD hurdle at Down Royal would be a target and would agree he wouldn't be out of place in a fighting fifth line up. As for the fighting Fifth a major trail for the champion hurdle I would take the word major out and use trail very loosely.
