I thought that 48 decs etc was meant to see the end of jockey changes except if (a) the jockey was injured or ill or (b) if a horse was a non-runner allowing a stable jockey say to switch .
Not surely to allow a senior jockey to be replaced by an apprentice to claim 5lb to counteract a penalty as with Mango Music today . Is there any hard and fast rule about this ?
I don't like senior jockeys who are ill not being replaced like with like - but it looks particularly bad when there appears to be nothing wrong with Graham Gibbons.
It did not affect matters but had you backed Hazelriggs and MM had beaten him a nose ...
