Jumping Whispers

Coo, that’s some start for jockey turned trainer Chester Williams. Has ten boxes at his mother’s yard and had his first two runners at Newton Abbott yesterday - both won.

In my book, her one and only redeeming quality is I don't think she actually looks or talks like the spoilt daughter of a wealthy trainer.

IMO, she talks and looks like a young lady who grew up on a Council Estate, won the lottery and decided to spend the lot on designer clothes and makeovers.

In that sense she's arguably the least horsey-looking and most modern normal looking and sounding young woman ever in the history of the racing industry.

Loads of people don't like "Foghorn Meghorn," but I don't actually mind her.

But, seriously, you decide to spend big money on jumps horses, go to Nicholls and ask him who's buying the stock now - are you impressed by this?

"I finally realised Tom Malone isn't 10% of all he's cracked up to be, so I've largely replaced him with, wait for it, one of my daughters! (Oh, and another of my daughters is now assistant trainer)."

I actually find it hilarious - racing is rife with nepotism historically, but this takes it to a new level.

But there are owners out there who will go along with it - what a game!
