Blind Joe Death

The globe spins,

Dragging collisions of clutches, to the end.

Blind Joe Death staggers to the instrument

And caresses the soft wood of the neck.

He guides the dizzy fingers through

The mist of Melancholy melody.

Blind Joe Death grins at Fahey

And moves the cap up the strings.

He stops.

Blind Joe Death dies.

He falls onto the round Persian mat

And swings the needle off the turntable.

Fahey sleeps.

John Fahey - In Christ There Is No East or West
" This tune is from a hymn originally called ' The Angels Changed My Name ', first published in 1881 in a book commemorating a tour by The Jubilee Singers. They were a choir of former slaves and their children, based at Fisk University, Nashville, Tennessee. The modern lyrics date from 1908. "

Not sure if this link will work but I have never seen this video before even though The Dreaming is my favourite Kate Bush album. It popped up on instagram and I can’t stop watching it.

That Kate Bush - the ultimate version of every female middle class hippy I ever met at my campus university 1981/1984 - was an utter Goddess in her prime was possibly the only thing me and a former member of this forum ever agreed on.

How can anyone come up with a song like that and then create such a weird mesmerising video to go with it. I sometimes try to begin with my mind being blank ( not difficult that!) and then try to create something in that blankness that no one has ever thought of before. And all I end up with is blankness.
