Maybe we get to see him again compete? Clive Smith says he doesn't want to just turn him out in a field but nor does he want him to be just a hack, so presumably he'll be retrained for another career in a different discipline?
One of my all time favourite horses - I was always on the Kauto Star side of the KS/Denman divide . We were just lucky they were both around at the same time.
There were so many wonderful moments - his devastating Old Roan win , slaughtering the Champion Chaser to be in his second win in the Tingle Creek , all the King Georges - the 30 length win in 2009 and the return in 2011 the most , both Gold Cups - one at the end of a very long season - the other achieving the unheard of in winning the GC back .
Two races will always stick out for me - his Ascot Chase win before the 2008 GC - he was flawless that day and the Betfair last year when he had been written off and he jumped Long Run silly before sailing home from the last . I could barely speak for two days I had shouted him home so much .
A long and happy retirement to the greatest since Arkle.
