I never took to him as a kid going to the local fleapit to see films like Spartacus, The Vikings, The War Wagon, etc and I best remembered him as the butt of impersonations by Frank Gorshin - the guy who played the Joker in the original Batman TV series - but I've caught up on a number of his films in the last couple of decades and I have to say he was a very talented actor.
