Colin, is there any other Pat Smythe? And you mean there are members younger than us?? Yes, she ran part of her house as a guesthouse for riders. It was huge fun. I enjoyed a sunny summer month there in 1956. I stroked 'Prince Hal' and we (guests) went to a show where PS rode. We hacked out through lovely countryside on fat ponies, went to see polo at Cirencester, enjoyed a stag roast at Wootton Basset, and I made friends with a boy my age who lived in Sloane Square. About 20 years later I got to know one of the secretaries who worked, as I did, for the Saudi Oil Company, and she told me she was once his girlfriend! (That belongs in the 'Funny Old World' section, I know.)
