Larry passed away yesterday morning in Dallas from throat cancer.
Known best of as JR Ewing in Dallas he visited Royal Ascot in the early 1980s, backing Kearney at 40/1 in Cork and Orrery to win £28k.
When asked if he had any racehorses he replied that he did not care to own anything that ate while he slept.
An Irish CW singer TR Dallas had his first hit record with the song " Who shot JR?"; when asked some yrs later if he remembered who did shoot JR he relied "NO, i am just glad someone did!"
Rest In Peace.

He also visited the Phoenix Park races one day, maybe on the same trip, when I was there.

Apparently he fought his illness for years.......Brave man who brought a lot of joy to a awful lot of people.

He had a huge following as the loveable rogue everyone loved to hate in his roll as JR Ewing in Dallas

Amazingly 22 years or so after after the last episode was screened in 1991 they started a new series of Dallas with Larry Hagman again taking the lead roll. They had started filming the second season completing only 2 episodes when he passed away. R.I.P.

I wonder what they will do now he has gone. A very hard man to replace.
