Anyone else think this is priceless stuff .

Love the period detail- from what I remember of 1973 it is spot on .

Love it, love it, love it! Maybe you had to live through the 1970s to appreciate it more, but the period detail is brilliant, although in all honesty, some of us had rather less gloomy abodes and some of us didn't hang heavily-patterned wallpaper everywhere. There is the slight problem with 'period' dramas, especially those looking at more modern times, to assume that everyone in the 1960s dressed courtesy of Biba and in the 1970s we all had lava lamps and burnt orange carpets. Some of us didn't look naff or have naff homes. Although I do admit to having a boyfriend with a gold-over-black Ford Capri...

I love it. It is brilliantly observed but they certainly haven't forgotten the plots either. 10/10 BBC.

This has been one of the best things on television for ages. Next week I think is the last episode

Edited for potential spoiler...

Definatly must see viewing in this house (up there with House) - some of us DID live with heavily patterend wallpaper, most of it left over from late 60's. Have my reservations about the quality of the baby scan the other week - and self sticky brown tape - weren't we all licking and sticking brown paper tape back then?

I used to have deep purple on my bedroom walls in 1973 because it was supposed to be the favourite colour of a well known religious young pop star from the U S of A. It took another couple of years to get over it! :shy:
(Stands well back and waits for the abuse! )

Best thing on TV for ages. Great music and what about this for a line ..

Sam Tyler to Gene Hunt

As for you, I can just about handle you ... driving like a pissed up crack head and treating women like bean bags but I'm gonna says this once and once only Gene, stay out of Camberwick Green!

I love it too. :)

Think the bartender is brilliant and I knew one just like that in Notting Hill. A kind of other worldly wisdom as if he is really the only one who knows where Sam is coming from.

I'm really jealous of you guys who found purple paint! I rented rooms which had the horrid wallpaper, and carpet, but the worst thing was the wooden furniture which was orange stained pine. Everything seemed to be orange hued! The landlord said we could paint it all, but we could not find any purple paint so opted for midnight blue. And with the one light bulb in the place could not then see anything. Probably just as well!

I went out with a guy who had a 'tan' leather jacket which was of course orange.

Also love his drop down bed - I actually saw one of those but never had the pleasure (?) of having to sleep or do anything else on one.

I don't get the fuss. It's just another predictable cop programme that uses its gimmick to moralise on how bad we were about racism, bigotry, sexism etc and how good we are now.

Au contraire, Riverman, I think it shows that no matter how we now try to dress things up in today's language, we've still got a hefty dollop of boorish, sexist, ageist, racist Little England bigots. But in a more caring, client-centred, kinda way.

Absolutely - it shows how far we have come in some ways for good and in some ways for bad.
