There are similarities; a dire fillies and mares championship race.

With £1m in prize money it's surprising there are no runners from abroad, not even Ireland.

The three runs required has probably put off most, but I'm sure a few owners will be gutted when they see the field for the mares race.

which have either run three times in an all-weather flat race in Great Britain after October 25th, 2013 and before April 12th, 2014 or have won an 'all-weather 3 year old fast track qualifier' race between these dates

I'm no big fan of flat racing full stop and normally avoid AW racing. However I applaud this decision and, taking out the opener, think it's a good card.

It's only a ten minute train hop so a group of us have our tickets and are venturing down. Beats watching Ben Hur for the 20th+ time - just about.

Then 10 days later off to Punchestown for the proper racing

But the initiative to invest in AW racing is applauded. By me, anyway.
