Long awaited

Good honest man who helped a Aussie friend of mines a while back and asked for nothing in return....hope he keeps having fun doing it successfully

Aiming for a career in the media now, Slim?

We've had our spats over the years but always managed to get over them. All the best going forward.

There's far too many "aiming for a career" or looking to push their service. I was doing a bit of an informal survey of both information and people who are good for a bit of fun and it seems it's even more than every second eejit is shilling something. I wouldn't give most of them a fiver to wash my windows.

Is there any racing fan under 35 that has decided not to set up a podcast?

Few are watchable. I like the Finishing Line cause I think they’re fairly funny, and Toms a decent judge. Also like Andrew Blair White. He’ll have a decent career in the future on the Tele I reckon. Good judge and nice fella (assuming he’s nice from his videos)

Terms of Slims interview, I look forward to rest of it. Shame the comments section on Twitter seem to be one guy hell bent on getting him banned. Weird bunch trolls. Nice to put a face to the accounts Slim, I owe you a pint should we ever cross at a racecourse.

One thing that's starting to annoy me is the subtext in some of the podcasts' reviews of the big races is that "the wrong horse won." It's never outright stated that the wrong horse won, but they'll express disappointment that the race didn't live up to the billing, or "it didn't tell us anything", and you'll hear it in all their tones the disappointment that a less exciting horse outperformed the horses they think are better, and probably are better, that they feel have a more promising future. "Ah, shur, it was disappointing, because the horse I like and want to follow didn't win." It's like they don't understand the point of a race, and picking a horse, and analysing the result.* Because they can't make a big song and dance about it to people who want superstars.

*And that's the other thing. Very few are analysing the actual race, or looking for the run of the race outside of drama, or if they are they aren't sharing it, they're really just analysing the result. Which makes me think analysing the race, for most people, is pointless. Which makes me think these podcasts are pointless, one or two nuggets, two or three unfounded rumours, a bit of talk where they call something into question that's generally preceded with, "EVERYONE SAW IT!" (why are you pointing it out then) then answering a listener's question about what "value" is, and the only reason I'm listening to them is because it's the middle of the night and I'm sick of Australian accents, or it's a Monday and there's bollocks all on.

The alternative is you'll get a podcast like this post which is a moan about something else in the industry, and that's even worse, because who in god's name would want to listen to the kind of rubbish I say?

Very like a forum, then.

Simon is a fine host who can interview with a degree of control without dominating the chat

Slim is a fine young gentleman with a gentle voice that would make your mother think he was an angel

I'm just waiting for him to start shilling microshares in ownership, or HorseCoin or something. Gotta use your influencer cred

God's game is incorruptible you philistines.

There was a quarter final 15 or so years ago and you can see a player celebrating wildly after his teammate scored the first goal. The celebrant had called into a few betting shops when he became aware of the starting 15 well in advance of the media.
Davy definitely encourages players and management to have a punt.
