Does anyone have any experience with these? There seem to be some very mixed reviews online.
Is there any viable alternative to Betfair really?

used matchbook a lot and they're good in the markets they specialise in, which is mostly US sport and football. their commission rules atm are quite good in that you get less than 1% for 'posted' bets rather than 'matched' bets. think it's just short of 2% for the latter.

their horse racing product has yet to get off the ground really. low liquid markets.

never used smarkets.

Thanks. Yeah it looks interesting for US stuff, which i do a fair bit on.
So they charge for losing bets as well as winning ones?

yep. whatever you stake they'll add the commission after it loses or deduct from the profit if it wins.

I have been thinking about opening a Matchbook account but as I would use it primarily for laying favourites, not sure whether I would be better off with their commision or not.

There is something about them I don't like which is a shame because betfair have no customer service ethic.

I have had a look at the site and I am not too impressed, but may just deposit a small amount to try them out.
You are certainly correct about Betfair and they don't treat their employees very well either, or so I have been told by someone who worked for them in Stevenage.

What is it that you don't like about them Luke? Is it their own Customer service (I work for the Matchbook team)

There was a fairly long thread on the betfair forum in the last year about someone who managed to take advantage of an obvious fat finger mistake and lay a horse at something like 1.01 pre race.Smarkets voided the bet before IBAS ruled in favour of the punter.I don't like that mentality -my first bet on betfair was meant to be a500 lay at 1.01 in running -unfortunately I pressed the wrong button and ended up with a monkey on a handicap chaser who didn't travel a yard-that hurt.

Logged on to Matchbook Sunday because I was having withdrawal symptoms not being involved in the golf. It was technically in play but the leaders weren't out for two hours. There was no liquidity whatsoever. Matchbook needs to address this if it ever wants any recreational punters. Meanwhile on Betfair and every Sportsbook you could get chunks on. This is just not good enough. It's not all about facilitating the syndicates and the algorithm guys, there must be a level of liquidity for when Punters want to punt.

The issue around the lack of Golf liquidity is in the process of being addressed and will be rectified in the next few weeks Slim

And the junkets, Chopper? Are these also being handled in similarly-efficient fashion, and can I expect to hear soon, and yes the Tingle Creek will be fine?

Good to see you're not just sending emails and cc'ing the world at 7am and then putting the feet up for the day.

Whats up with Betfair not refreshing online or on the app the last week? Its absolutely head wrecking.
